Greenwood Farm log cabin-pet friendly
It is a 200 year old log cabin in Woodford County on a cattle farm owned by the same family since the late 1700’s. It is located just 3.7 miles from the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, with 5 distilleries within 10 miles. It is a 20 minute drive to Keeneland Racetrack and the Bluegrass airport, 35 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park and 1 hour to Churchill Downs. Another option is to spend time at the cabin enjoying the farm by either just sitting on the porch or walking. The cabin has three bedrooms - 1 downstairs with a double bed and 2 upstairs with 2 twin beds in each. There are fireplaces with propane logs in the living room and downstairs bedroom. The original log potion of the cabin contains the living room and 3 bedrooms. The kitchen, study and bathroom are three steps down from the original portion, and the sunroom is 1 step down from the kitchen. Gates are available in the furnace room for small children or pets. Guests need to take care when using the steps to the upstairs and the steps going from one portion of the cabin to the other since they are narrow and very steep, common in old cabins. There is Wi-Fi, a smart TV in the living room, a fully equipped kitchen with propane stove and dining area, the study serves as a dedicated work space, and the sunroom has a second dining area and the washer and dryer. The bathroom has a shower/bath, a towel warmer and is fully stocked with extra toilet paper, towels, and other essentials. In addition to the front porch with rockers, there is a deck at the back with a propane grill, and table and chairs. There are two closets, one in the sunroom and one in an upstairs bedroom. A hat rack and wall pegs are located around the cabin for additional hanging space. Parking is definitely free. The cabin is secluded and peaceful, surrounded by mature trees with areas for walking and just enjoying nature. Guests are encourage to walk and enjoy the farm but are not permitted in any barns or fenced areas even if gates are open. There is no swimming, wadding or ice skating allowed on the pond, which is not fenced and contains snapping turtles. Also any farm machinery is off limits. This is a working farm, and we want guests, as well as the livestock to remain safe. A map of the farm is included on the desk in the study showing the areas available for walking. I will contact guests by text and they can contact me via text. This is a rural area with a mix of horse farms and cattle farms with some grain production. We are close to the distilleries, but also the following horse farms - Ashford (Coolmore), Brookdale, Stonestreet, Glenwood and Diamond A. We are 2 miles from the Kentucky River, 4.3 miles from Versailles, 17 miles from Lexington and 9 miles from Frankfort. The closest grocery store, Kroger, is in Versailles. There are several pharmacies - Kroger, CVS, the Corner Drug and Woodford Family Pharmacy. Parking is generally very easy and free unless you go into Lexington, but you will need a vehicle as there is no public transportation. Pets must be on a leash and children must be supervised at all times for their safety and the safety of the cattle and horses. Some of the fencing is electric so additional care should be taken when close to those fences. There are some signs marking this type of fencing. This is not a good choice for someone with mobility issues because of the steps going from one section of the cabin to another. They are very narrow and steep.
