Rustic riverfront cabin: private swimming; fishing

Kick back and unwind from a private deck overlooking the confluence of the Salmon & Klamath rivers, or relax and take in the views from inside this open and well-maintained cabin. This unit is located in Somes Bar at the Humboldt/Siskiyou county divide and features access to a private swimming and fishing hole. Amenities include: wifi, running water, a cooking stove, a woodstove, a full bath, & plenty of parking space! The space The cabin and adjacent structures are some of the oldest standing buildings in Somes Bar - though you might not guess by the recently renovated interior of the unit. While the space has had many upgrades, there is a certain historic charm that could not be replicated which certainly makes for a unique experience! Sleeping: The bedroom has a queen size bed and door for privacy. The sofa-bed (see pictures) can sleep 2, but please note that it does not afford much privacy from the kitchen or the bathroom areas and there are no curtains or blinds, so light sleepers should be prepared to wake with the morning light. Food Safety: All food should be stored safely and securely in the fridge or inside the cabin with the windows and doors closed overnight and when guests are not present. We ask that you please do not leave food out that may attract unwanted “critters” (ants, field mice, bears, etc.). Field mice are fairly common to the area, we advise to not book here if possibly seeing a mouse will cause you distress. Wildlife: This listing is in a natural area, where wildlife is present. You may see wildlife visit the property including but not limited to: black-tailed deer, foxes, bears, Roosevelt elk, river otters, as well as eagles, ospreys, and falcons that frequently fish the river below -- we kindly ask that you please do not try to approach or feed any wildlife. Neighbors: Our neighbors are wonderful and are very helpful should you have any questions about the area. They do have dogs, which may bark overnight. The dogs are kind and social, but please do not encourage them to hang around the cabin so we can continue to keep it as hypoallergenic as possible. Wood bees: We do not use any chemical sprays or treatments around the outside of the cabin, and are conscientious about removing insects - including the woodbees that love to bore into wooden features around the cabin. These big, fuzzy pollinators can look intimidating, but have never posed a threat to us. However, if seeing them causes you distress or if you are allergic to bee stings, we advise to not book here. If you have any questions or concerns regarding wildlife, please reach out to your hosts prior to booking. Guest access You'll have full access to the cabin, deck, yard space, as well as the trail to and from the river. Other things to note Somes Bar is located in an extremely remote area with no cell phone service and limited businesses in the area. Guests should arrive prepared to be entirely self-sufficient for the duration of their stay. Please reach out to hosts if you would like information about grocery stores, gas, or other needs/items that you may want to pick up along the way. Guests are expected to check local fishing regulations prior to booking. The private hole below the cabin is NOT open for fishing year round.
