Castle Aidan is a stunning, 3700 sqft, 4-season cottage that has been described by guests as “magical”. Perched high on top the Canadian Shield, and built with quality stone and wood, you will FEEL the difference of being away from the city. Whether you enjoy sitting by a roaring fireplace; paddling on the lake; playing competitive rounds of basketball or video games; or enjoying breathtaking lake views, Castle Aidan is sure to please. The space *NEW* Starting September 1, 2024, we will start providing bed linens and bath towels. TOP AMENITIES: - Waterfront property - kayak, pedal boat, stand-up paddle boat (seasonal) - 5-person hot tub (open year round) - FAST WIFI* - Games room (basketball, pac man machine with many games, pool table, poker table) and board games, card games, cards, and badminton net * Bell Fiber high-speed internet provides consistent speeds for streaming your favourite apps on Amazon Fire Stick TVs or Zoom calls while you "work from home" at the cottage. SPRING/SUMMER: Enjoy a game of badminton in the large open backyard overlooking the lake or walk down a set of stairs to over 130 feet of waterfront with deep clean water off the dock great for swimming, fishing, sunbathing, or water sports (paddle board, kayak, and canoe). A public boat launch is located only a few minutes away and the Marina is close by on Kennisis Lake if you wish to rent a watercraft e.g. boats, pontoons, or sea-doos. Non-Motorized Watercrafts (available May long weekend to Mid to Late October): - Stand Up Paddleboard - Kayak - Canoe - Pedal Boat - Life jackets for adults and children FALL/WINTER: With stunning views of the lake from many vantage points on the property, you can be sure to enjoy breathtaking views all day long. Our favourite spots include the outdoor hot tub, 2nd floor bay window, and patio. Relax in the hot tub, jacuzzi, or by the indoor or outdoor fire pit. Enjoy fast Wi-Fi, fun games room, or exploring all the nook and crannies of this custom built cottage. The proximity to one of the best snowmobiling trails in North America is a true sledders’ delight. Easily park your cars and sleds in our long driveway. Cottage country can witness a fair amount of snow during the winter months with icy buildup on the roads. Winter tires during the winter months are a must. WHAT TO DO: - 8 mins to Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve (Infamous snowmobiling trails, tree-top trekking, Wolf Centre, snowshoeing, hiking, ATV trail, ice climbing, ice fishing, mountain biking, and more) - 7 mins to Kennisis Lake Marina (rent watercraft(s), enjoy the new Pickleball Courts, pickup some groceries) - 21 mins to West Guilford Shopping Center (LCBO, groceries, butcher shop, ice cream) - 22 mins to K Pub Chicken (Korean Fried Chicken) - 23 mins to Lakeside Golf Club Inc - 33 mins to Sir Sam’s Ski/Ride (mountain bike/ski/snowboard/snowshoe) - 1 hr 25 mins to Algonquin Provincial Park West Gate - Nearby towns are Haliburton Village (32 mins) where you can find a FoodLand, Independent Grocer, Shopper's Drug Mart, Beer Store, Rexall, and Restaurants (we love Maple Avenue Tap & Grill) COTTAGE LAYOUT DECKS: - 5-person hot tub (lower level) - BBQ (main level) - Beautiful stone table with chairs with killer view overlooking the lake (main level) BACKYARD: - Badminton net and racquets - Big open grassy area for playing catch, soccer, or tag FRONT YARD: - Fire pit (fire wood provided) - 7 Muskoka chairs with additional folding chairs nearby for use - The main level of this Cottage is wheelchair friendly with a ramp leading to the front door, Murphy bed, low bathroom sink, and walk-in shower. LIVING ROOM: - TV - Wood fireplace (firewood provided) - Pull out couch - Murphy bed (Queen) - Workspace with a desk and chair - Board games and cards DINING ROOM: - Seating for 10 - High chair available (similar to the ones found at restaurants) KITCHEN: - Linens (paper towel, sponge, kitchen towels, j cloth) - Fridge/freezer - Oven/stove - Dishwasher - Toaster - Toaster Oven - Microwave - Coffee makers (Keurig, regular, and Espresso machine with milk frother) - Kettle - Wine glasses - Dinnerware - Cookware GAMES ROOM: - 2 person basketball - Pac man arcade (with Pac man, MAPPY, DIG DUG, and GALAGA games) - Pool table - Poker table - Bar area with sink, fridge, and bar stools (shaker set can be found in the kitchen) - Washer/Dryer (please limit to 1 load per day as we are on a septic system) - In-floor radiant heating in the games room will keep you cozy during the winter. Plenty of space for parking for up to 4-5 cars. - There is a public boat launch <5 minutes away - Please note this place is best suited for families with older children (>6 years of age). Other things to note When you arrive, you will find a cottage guide on the counter in the kitchen. This guide will answer most common questions such as wifi password and garbage disposal. Below is a high level overview of what is contained in the guide: DRINKING WATER: The cottage is on a drilled well. The water passes through a series of filters and UV light to kill bacteria. The water that flows from the small water tap next to the kitchen faucet also undergoes reverse osmosis. However, the water in cottage country may taste or look different from what you are used to back home and may upset some people with stomach sensitivities. Please feel free to bring your own water to drink. SMOKING: Smoking/vaping/marihuana are not permitted inside the cottage or by doors and windows. All cigarette butts to be disposed of in the receptacles provided outside. CLEANLINESS/DISHES/GARBAGE: Cottage to be left in same condition as it was found with all garbage removed from the premises and taken to the nearby landfill. WINTER (December to April): Cottage country can witness a fair amount of snow during the winter months with icy buildup on the roads. AWD vehicles with winter tires are a must. SEPTIC SYSTEM: We on a septic system, flush nothing but human waste and toilet paper, no fats or solids down any drains. LAUNDRY: Washer and dryer is available on site. Please limit to 1 load per day due to septic system. AC/HEATING: Thermostat is located in the living room. In-floor heating also available in the games room (thermostat can be found on lower level). CAMPFIRES: April 1st to October 31st: Camp fires are only allowed between 7pm to 7am (this is a town bylaw). WATER ACTIVITIES: Use water vessels at your own risk. Everyone must wear a lifejacket and carry a bailor kit while on the water. HOT TUB: Please refer to the cottage guide for steps to follow to ensure clean and safe hot tub experience. FIREPLACE: Wood burning fireplace available in the living room all -year round (fire wood provided). SECURITY CAMERAS: For your safety and liability purposes, there are cameras located on the exterior of the property. *NO PETS, PARTIES, OR FIREWORKS PERMITTED
