The Marion Ridge Cabin is a two-bedroom gem tucked into the wooded forest of Pine Cove just outside of Idyllwild, California. Cozy, and newly renovated, this 1930s cabin has the charm of old rustic cabin living with modern upgrades for all the comfort needed in a mountain retreat. 5 Minutes from the heart of Idyllwild, this cabin is close to countless hiking trails, great restaurants, and art galleries while being far enough to feel like a proper nature retreat. LIVING ROOM Our cozy living space is perfect for reading, snuggling in, and ending a day of hiking in the forest. Books and games are available to help indulge in the comfort of the space and there is a Smart Roku TV and a Spotify Account with preset soundtracks for your cabin experience. The living room has a wood-burning stove, gas wall furnace, and electric heater all to help keep the house warm during our chilly winter months. BATHROOM There is a newly renovated bathroom downstairs, equipped with a full shower, soap, shampoo, and conditioner, and a heated floor to keep the chill away on those cool nights and mornings. And our favorite amenity of all is the heated bidet toilet seat. KITCHEN/DINING ROOM We provide a very well-stocked open kitchen made for cooking delicious meals. There is a dishwasher, microwave, stove top, oven and ample refrigerator. You'll also find several cookbooks to explore. Morning coffee at the dining room table while looking out over the yard is a perfect way to start the day. GUEST BEDROOM/OFFICE We loved putting this room together! Light and airy, it's both cozy and spacious enough to sleep in and then use during the day to do remote work at the desk. The bed is a new queen hybrid foam mattress tucked into a wall frame that features two side cubbies that allow you to plug in phones or other small electronics bedside. With a skylight above the bed for gazing up into the trees or night sky. This room has a portable mini split that serves as both a heater and air conditioner, extra blankets and pillows along with two small closets. The L-shaped desk provides you with ample room to work and aside from the high-speed (1 Gbps fiber) wifi in the house. MASTER BEDROOM The new queen-sized bed in this room is also a hybrid foam mattress nestled between two side tables and reader lamps for cozy nights and morning reading. This is such a wonderful room to sleep long past early morning in, with a light-blocking window shade for the morning sun. Another skylight allows you to gaze up into the trees or at the night sky. There is a chair for dressing and a larger closet in this room, along with some storage cubbies for suitcases and the like. This room also has it's own portable mini-split that provides heating and air conditioning when needed. DECK AND PATIO YARD The two wooden rocking chairs and loveseat on the deck are the perfect places to sit while the sun is setting. Our separate side deck provides you with comfortable seating and is a lovely space for dinner outside. Our gazebo has seating for 4 and a small table, all next to the gentle bubbling of a small pond. Strung with cafe twinkle lights it's enjoyable day or evening. The entire cabin is yours to use, along with the designated guest driveway which can fit two cars end to end. If you need additional parking beyond that we can accommodate, just ask. Laundry access is available on-site upon request. When there is snow, we have someone come once a day to clear the berm and keep your parking accessible. There is also a snow shovel available that you can use should snow build up between plowings, or to clear the the deck and walkway as needed. We are here if you should need anything. Please don't hesitate to reach out through Airbnb Messenger. We have a smart lock for contactless check-in, but if you prefer in-person check-in let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate. You'll find cabins nestled into the trees all along the street and side road that wrap around the house which sits on 1/4 acre of land filled with beautiful trees. Walking is a loved pass time in Pine Cove and often you'll see people strolling along the road with their dogs or stopping by at the corner of the property to visit our Little Free Library. The property itself is divided in half so that you get the house and the large yard and outdoor living space and smaller driveway to yourself and the owner works in a studio behind the house during the day only. It's common to hear birds, squirrels, chipmunks and coyotes talking to each other daily. There is a flat gravel driveway for off-street parking that will allow for two cars, one in front of the other. If for some reason you need to park a third car, please ask and we can accommodate you. There is a small market down the street you can easily walk to (Pine Cove Market), or drive 3 miles into Idyllwild where there are all the amenities (2 Grocery Stores, Liquor Store, restaurants, and gift shops). Trails abound and you can easily walk or ride your mountain bike to The Hub complex trails. You may wish to drive to Deer Springs and The Nature Center trails (hiking only), you'll need to drive 10 minutes or hike really far to get to Humber Park for Ernie Maxwell Trail and Devil's Slide Trail. These are a tiny handful of the most popular trails in the area but there are way more including Black Mountain and Lake Fulmor. * Winter Notes: Access is from a major road and short distance from the highway. The road is as well plowed when it snows and if you can make it to Idyllwild (sometimes chain controls exist) you can make it to the cabin. Know however that there may be a build up of a snow berm in front of the driveway when it's snowing from the county snowplow and at times it will require some shoveling to move the car in/out (Shovel provided! If you want to hire someone to shovel/plow we can provide contact info for that). Note that the property is about 1/4 of an acre with two structures on it. The cabin you'll be staying in is on one side with its own private yard. On the other side, separated by a second-long driveway, is a detached garage. That garage is used exclusively by us as an office and workshop. We use them only occasionally (not daily) and during normal daylight hours.
