We enjoyed everything that your cottage offered - - the lovely covered deck, the dock overlooking the Narrows, the firepit for s'mores, the spacious and wonderfully appointed kitchen, the large dining room table, the tastefully decorated rooms, the lovely artwork throughout, the kayak and canoe, the grill for yummy steaks, the beautiful yard with room for little ones to run and laugh, the media room that was removed from the other bedrooms so the littles could sleep and we could play games without disturbing them - - and I am probably leaving something off the list!! I think that you anticipated anything and everything that we could want - - thank you! We also enjoyed being able to walk to the playpark across the bridge at the local school which was perfect for our crew and everyone, including the kids, enjoyed the Northern Latitudes Distillery on our way home! We were impressed with how many places were so kid and family friendly. Another day we walked to the Boathouse Vineyards which we enjoyed. It was very nice being in the village of Lake Leelanau with all it had to offer - - a bonus that we weren't really expecting - - and we took advantage of a lot of it including Indian food from NJ's Grocery, Dick's Pour House and a lovely dinner at Bella Fortuna! The location of White Birch Cottage was really terrific. With everything so close, we could enjoy our cottage time and explore the area! We hiked in Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Tiechner Preserve, and visited Fishtown in Leland with delightful restaurant experiences at both the Cove and the Riverside Inn, Van's Beach for the sunsets, Nedow's Beach for swimming and digging in the sand, Grand Traverse Lighthouse in Northport, Hop Lot Brewery, Sutton's Bay with lunch at Martha's Leelanau Table and the icing on the cake was renting a pontoon boat right on the Narrows - - how totally convenient! We all enjoyed seeing both sections of Lake Leelanau from the boat. We all appreciated your helpful tips and clearly used them. Guest access Great location! Centrally located in the town of Lake Leelanau, one of the hottest new foodie destinations in the Peninsula, you can walk to Peddling Beans for coffee, have pastries at Hannah's, sip wine at Amoritas or the Boathouse Winery overlooking Lake Leelanau, taste spirits at Northern Latitudes Distillery, sample authentic Indian cuisine at NJ's and have a classic Michigan whitefish dinner with a local microbrew at Dick's Pour House From the White Birch Cottage you will be able to explore all corners of Leelanau County. In Leland, just 10 minutes away you can enjoy delightful Lake Michigan beaches and Historic Fishtown, candy and ice cream shops, and a number of water-side restaurants. Suttons Bay, only 5 minutes drive, is known for great shopping, art galleries, a number of excellent restaurants, a movie theater, ice cream shop, sandy beaches and access to the clear waters of Grand Traverse Bay. The quaint town of Glen Arbor and 'America's Most Beautiful Place': the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a 20m drive.
