Cozy Cottage is the perfect home base for exploring the medieval town of Herrstein and hiking in Hunsrück National Park. With a view of the castle, you'll be less than a 5-minutes from the Mittelalterpfad, voted Germany's most beautiful hike, and the Hildegard-von-Bingen pilgrimage path. 10 minutes to the wolves at Wildenburg, 20 to the 10th-century Schmidtburg and the Celtic Altburg. A beautiful 40-min drive to the Moselle. All within an easy 1.5h drive from FRA; 40 min from FRA Hahn. The space Cozy Cottage boast great views of Herrstein and the surrounding forest. Great herons nest in the trees across the river. Enjoy your meals on the three-season porch overlooking the village. Dark night skies afford amazing stargazing from the house. Walk down to the river to for agate swept in from the gem stone cutting businesses that have been along the river since the 1800s. Great for families, couples, or single travelers. Cozy Cottage has been in our family for generations and we've been renovating, adding a sunroom, with large windows and balcony overlooking valley, installing oak floors throughout. This year, we've renovated our kitchen, with new floors and wallpaper, maintaining the mid-century vibe, as much as possible. Renovating the bathroom with a new tub and tiling, we've preserved the original orange Villeroy-Boch wall tiles and wood panelling. We hope you enjoy this comfortable, clean mix between old and new as much as we do and are excited to welcome you! Guest access You'll be the only one using the house during your stay. We will store our personal items in locked cabinets and two rooms in the top and main floor. Top floor - Master bedroom with a queen bed (120x200cm), with a new memory foam mattress on and anti-allergic bedding. - The bedroom opens up to a large sun room/sitting area/office, and a beautiful private balcony. In the sun room, you'll find low profile single platform bed (90x200cm) that is a nice place for a child or another adult to sleep, or just hang out and look out of the big windows into the woods. - Second bedroom with a single bed. New memory foam mattress and anti-allergic bedding. - For flexible sleeping arrangements, we have a foldable Traumnacht Deluxe Guest Mattress (195cm x 75cm x 14 cm, stored as a 65cm x 75cm x 42cm chair when not in use). Main floor - Two bathrooms, one with a shower, one with a newly-installed bath tub. - Full kitchen well-equipped for cooking your own meals. - In addition to the balcony off the master bedroom, the house has a large three-season porch with view of the medieval town center. It's our favorite place to eat. - Separate laundry room with a sink. Kitchen - Induction stove with oven, microwave, & dishwasher - Conventional coffee maker + espresso maker (Nespresso Essenza Mini) - Full set of pots and pans, plates, glasses, cups, etc. Hallway - Spacious hallways offers safe and convenient storage for bikes, luggage, etc. - There is also a separate office with a built-in desk and book shelves. A nice and cool place to work in the summer and look at the river and our neighbor's beautiful garden. Other things to note Must be able to climb stairs. The bedrooms are on the top floor. Church bells ring loudly at 6 am on weekdays. This is our family home that we love to share with guests. Please do not book for others or commercial use. Absolutely no parties of any kind, and no outside guests. No smoking, incense or scented candles inside the house. Lingering smells will incur an additional 200 Euro cleaning charge.
