Just 1-2 hours from Metro Detroit, the Harsens Island ferry will transport you to an island paradise. Located at the mouth of the St. Clair River, the island offers some of the best fresh water fishing, duck hunting, bird and freighter watching around. This house is located on the crystal clear waters of the South Channel and is surrounded by water on both sides. We offer all the amenities you and your crew need to escape and relax by the water including a hot tub. The space The house is 2300 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We are a small island off the island and you actually cross three small private bridges to get up to the house. We have a hot tub facing the rear channel. We have a shed on the property with four kayaks and different sized life jackets for guest use. The channel behind our house provides a perfect environment for swimming and kayaking. The river in front of the house is great for fishing, general boating, and watching huge Great Lakes freighters pass by several times per day. We also have a shallow swimming area on the river side that is owned by the DNR (make sure you bring water shoes as boater debris like glass and metal can sometimes wash ashore). Inside the house you will find all the amenities you need to have a great vacation with friends and family. The master bedroom offers a king bed and huge private balcony. The second bedroom has a queen bed. The third bedroom is a huge bunk room with bunk beds sized for adults. There are 4 twins, 2 fulls and 1 queen in the bunk room. The bunk room also has 2 couches and it’s own TV. On the first floor we have an office/bedroom with a twin bed that pulls out to make a king size bed. Our garage has been converted into a sweet man cave with a bar, leather couches, large TV and wood burning fireplace. Guest access You will have the entire house, the kayak shed and the boat well available for your use. There are only a couple closets in the house that are reserved for owner storage. The Captain’s Lookout is accessed via a long one lane driveway with water on both sides and three bridges. There is room at the end of the driveway by the house to park two cars and not a lot of room to turn a vehicle around. If you are not comfortable backing up, you may want to park closer to the road where the driveway is wider. Please do not park or drive on the grass by the house. (There is a septic field there and may be damaged by driving on it) Other things to note 6 person hot tub. We provide 5 kayaks (4 singles & 1 double) and life jackets for guest use. You can also swim in the channel behind the house or there is a small swimming area next to the front of the house.
