Enjoy the full island experience at this classic home off the rugged Maine coast. The house has 3 bedrooms with room to sleep 6, and a pull out couch in the living room. With 1.5 bathrooms, a large sunroom, open dining and living room and washer/dryer in the basement, there is plenty of space and amenities for your summer getaway. Sit on the covered front porch and catch up on your summer reading list. This house is located off the coast of Mt. Desert Island and is only accessible by ferry. The space You're on island time. Sitting on the porch taking in the views, reading a book on a rainy day, spending quality time with family and friends, walking down to the dock for a sunset, beach combing for sea glass, or enjoying a fresh caught lobster dinner in the dining room are some of the many unforgettable experiences you can have out here. The island recently had its internet improved with fiber optic cable run to every residence. So far, our guests have found the internet speed to be excellent for remote work, multiple video streams and zoom calls. One recent improvement to this house that we're excited about is our new heat pump units that provide both heat and air conditioning to the living space of the entire house. This should make the bedrooms very comfortable on those hot august nights. And if you get a rainy cold day in October, we've got you covered! Guest access You have the entire house and property to yourself - no surprises or intrusions. I will unlock the house on the day of your stay and typically do not interact with guests face to face unless it is requested (I am happy to drop in if there is anything requiring attention!) Other things to note The downstairs half bath is located adjacent to the kitchen. While it is helpful to have the extra bathroom it is located in a fairly high traffic area of the house, so if you're staying with friends or other couples, you may find that you prefer to shower in the full bath upstairs. Another small downside to the house is that the upstairs bedroom outlets are limited to about one per room. There is enough for bedside lamps and plugging in a cell phone charger, but just don't go overboard. I've stayed in the home with toddlers and pets, and I find the home to be children and pet friendly. I've left a child/pet gate for your use if you feel you need to block off a stairway. Additionally, there is a lock on the basement door to prevent toddlers and young children from accessing. But of course, adults will need to access the basement for laundry. There is also a pack and play in the master bedroom that functions well as a crib. There are lots of interesting books and brochures in the house about Mt. Desert Island, local art, history and nature. You are also welcome to any children's toys in the box on the deck. We also have a few older bicycles for guests to use that I will leave out. If any tires are flat, the bike pump is in the toy box on the front porch.
