There are lots of fun things to do in the area: swamp tours, visit the state park, fishing, kayaking, lake activities or just enjoy the beautiful sunsets on the dock. A beautiful area to see, expansive views of bald cypress trees draped with Spanish moss, swimming on the massive dock. Covered dock with comfy furniture and an unique bar with 4 stools to enjoy some drinks PLUS Adirondack seating to enjoy the breathtaking sunsets, fish, or make s'mores by the fire pit. The living room has a fireplace to keep you warm during the winter months, even though Texas winter might not be too extreme :) Gator Palace is in the bayou only 20 minutes from the historic city of Jefferson and just down from Caddo Lake State Park. - Plenty sets of linen available in closets - Extra air mattress available inside hall closet + sheets + pillows + blankets No pets allowed no exceptions. Guests will have access to all areas of the property except for the vault located in the garage. We will not be on-site during your stay, but you will have our number and will be able to contact us during your stay, if needed. Pine Island Rd. runs parallel to the Big Cypress Bayou. The Pine Island lodge is just up the street and you’ll pass it on your way in. There is little to no public transportation in Karnack, TX. Driving your own car is definitely recommended. We are only 20 minutes from Jefferson TX, 25 minutes from Marshall TX and 45 minutes from Shreveport LA. Caddo Lake has over 50 miles of canoe and kayak trails, follow the trail markers posted along each of the trails to explore the mysterious maze of sloughs, swamps and bayous! - There are 3 kayaks available for guest use with a signed liability release. Life jackets are hanging in the downstairs closet next to the spiral staircase. - The closest restaurant is 20 min away. - Local restaurants open only on weekends. - Plenty sets of linen available in closets. - Extra air mattress available inside hall closet + sheets + pillows + blankets - Don't forget to bring repellent + sunscreen - Camera on garage, front of the house - Camera facing the boathouse
