The space Spring and Summer: During your stay, you will have sole occupancy of this single-family home brimming with vintage aesthetic charm. You will also have access to its riverfront property . Enjoy this cozy, clean & comfortable home with unrivaled river view. The kitchen has a refrigerator, Mr. Coffee, microwave oven; countertop oven; new electric oven; and enough kitchen essentials (plates, flatware, etc.) to ensure you will feel at home. Watch the river as you prepare your meals. Antique treasures thought the house. Visit nearby Saugerties Village or Woodstock for fine & casual dining and antique shopping. We are centrally located to the many of the Mid-Hudson historic sites, including the FDR Home, Mills Mansion, Olana and the Vanderbilt mansion, as well as Bard college, Vassar college and Marist college, each of which hosts a variety of activities and concerts throughout the year (please consult their site for a current listing of specific events). Other local outdoor venues along the river often host free concerts throughout the summer as well - your host will happily provide information about local going's-on during the time of your stay if you are interested. Enjoy moonlight by a campfire while listening to fish jumping in the Hudson River just steps away. We have binoculars for observing wildlife and river traffic and a telescope for viewing the night sky. The Glasco mini park with boat and kayak launches and fishing piers is a short walk from the house. Casualand moderate hiking at Falling Waters Nature Preserve, a short half-mile drive from the property, or walk the Esopus Bend creek path which is approx. 1 mile away, as well as the Saugerties Lighthouse walk. Information for private boat tours and kayak rentals is available. We are 3 miles from HITS (Horse Shows in the Sun) and have extra parking available to accommodate trailer or other tow-behind vehicles. Board games; and outdoor ladder-ball game; lots of yard space; free parking & indoor porch that can be used for secure bike storage. A/C in the bedrooms for your sleeping comfort, and fresh river breezes with ceiling fans will keep you cool downstairs. ____________________ GENERAL YEAR ROUND: Because of proximity to the river and the second story stairs we must limit the ages of children to infants under 2 months old and children over age 10 on a case by case basis with the understanding that you will provide adult supervision for all children at all times. If your sleeping arrangements require more than two beds, or you would like to book for more than four guests, please contact us about the availability of an air mattress or other similar accommodations. Skiing, hiking, ice-climbing, and snowshoeing are some of the many activities offered in the nearby Catskill mountains. For the hale and hearty, kayaking or ice fishing may be possible from the nearby Glasco mini-park dock. Or settle in for a cozy stay and enjoy winter views of ice flows on the Hudson River and its frozen shoreline and winter wildlife, all from the comfort of this 2BR homestead provisioned for up to 4 guests. Enjoy a quiet evening of leisurely repose with friends/family in the living room and enjoy a title from our video library on DVD or VHS or sit around the dining table and play a game from our varied collection of board games. The kitchen is equipped with a coffee maker, microwave; new electric oven, and basic kitchen essentials if you prefer to eat-in, or for a night out, Saugerties and nearby Woodstock offer a variety of dining and night-life options or delivery from local restaurants.. Many of the Mid-Hudson area historic attractions also host a variety of indoor and outdoor holiday and winter events. We are near to the FDR Home, Mills Mansion, Olana State Historic site and the Vanderbilt mansion, as well as Bard college, Vassar college and Marist college (please consult their respective websites for a listing of their planned events). _______________________ Guest access You will have access to the front and back porches, the kitchen, the dining room and a very large living room with a piano and many books and board games all on the first floor. On the second floor are 3 bedrooms with beautiful views and a bathroom. Primary parking is on a compacted grass driveway next to the house. We have a ramp for ease of entry and exit. Entry is by a combination lock; We greet all guests in person and the combination and WIFI password will be provided the day of your arrival. Please let us know your expected time of arrival. Parking for larger vehicles (trailers, RV, etc.) can be accommodated at the private fenced water-front area, aprox. 100 yards from the house. You will also have access to walk along the waterfront. Fishing and kayak launch is one block from the house. Other things to note For more vigorous activities kayaking is a favorite with a launch one block from the residence or gentle kayaking in the nearby creek. Hiking on nearby trails ranging from casual to rock scrambles to rock climbing. The Catskill Mountain area is home to the 3500 Club; river swimming at the Ulster County Beach and Kingston Point or the Saugerties Creek where life guards are available. Striper fishing starts in early April. And don't miss the path to the Saugerties Lighthouse. In winter Hunter mountain skiing is only 35 minutes away.
