Nestled among towering fir trees and overlooking the Salish Sea, this spacious house is perfect for families seeking an extended stay near many of Lopez Island’s top attractions. Walkers, runners, and bikers will love the route along the coast to majestic Iceberg Point, or further to beaches at Watmough and Hughes Bays. Kayakers and paddleboarders will enjoy the sheltered waters of MacKaye Harbor. The Southend Market and Café is a walk away, as is a public boat launch/dock. The large, three story house offers places for everyone to gather or find quiet moments of solitude. Most rooms have spectacular views of MacKaye Harbor through the trees. The vaulted ceiling and comfortable seating of the living room make it perfect for the whole group to watch movies, play games, etc. Sunsets from the dining area are incredible, and on a clear night you can see the lights of Victoria, B.C. in the distance. Lopez Island restaurants are wonderful, but the kitchen is fully equipped to take advantage of the locally raised produce, meat and eggs found at nearby farmstands. Extras include a popcorn maker, ice cream maker and Nespresso machine. A covered cedar deck off the dining area is ideal for morning coffee while listening to the waves lapping below. Every bedroom is an oasis of its own—they each have desks by the windows for inspiration (or working-from-home) and comfortable seating for quiet reading. The mattresses are all new and comfortable. Two bedrooms have queen beds, and the third has two sets of bunk beds. There are bathrooms on the main and upper floors. Both have a tub/shower and dual sinks. The washer and dryer are conveniently located on the main floor. The game room on the lower level has a leather sectional, TV, DVD player, and an Xbox 360 with games. There’s a foosball table, mini ping pong table, a bubble hockey arcade game, a huge tub of Duplo and more. Outside you’ll find a large fire pit stocked with kindling and firewood sourced from the property. You’re not legally required to roast marshmallows, but we strongly advise it. There is a circular driveway and carport for plenty of parking and storing your gear. Speaking of gear, the house comes equipped with four bikes and four kayaks. You can rent more sophisticated bikes and kayaks elsewhere on the island. Guests have exclusive access to the entire property. There are several firewood stacks (for winter use) that we ask you to avoid. There is a stack of firewood near the fire pit for guest use. We are fully available via phone, text or email during your stay. Should the need arise, we’ll be there as quickly as possible. The South End Market and Cafe is a short walk away. Iceberg Point, one of the most beautiful places on Earth, is a walk or bike of 1.5 miles along the coast, passing three bays along the way. Several other Lopez Island highlights are also a short bike (or medium walk) away. People walk, bike and drive all over Lopez Island. Parking is almost never an issue or challenge. This house provides the best internet service available to this location. The wifi works well enough to stream a movie or have a Zoom call for work. In our experience, cell reception on the property is good for T-Mobile users but not great for other providers. A road runs by the property, so there can be some vehicle noise. The steep hill and foliage hide much of the road and there are no other houses nearby, so it still feels very private.
