It is an ideal spot to relax and refresh after a long day of hiking in the Downs. The Victoria Inn in West Marden is 2.3 miles away, and there are many more pubs and restaurants within a short distance, offering plenty of options for a meal or a drink nearby. Getting Around Bus Station: Bus stop is 1 minute from front door, going North to Petersfield and South to Chichester. Chichester Train Station: 20- minute drive London: Trains from London Victoria to Chichester run every 30 minutes and take approximately 1.5 hours. Nearby Attractions The property is situated on a footpath and bridleway, providing direct access to numerous hiking and mountain biking trails in the surrounding area. Notable routes include Kingley Vale and the South Downs Way, both offering stunning views and varied terrain. Uppark House and Gardens, just 5.7 miles away, is a must-see. This National Trust property features Georgian interiors that contrast the upstairs comfort with the downstairs world of the servants. One of its highlights is an exceptional 18th-century dolls' house, considered one of the finest in the country. Stansted Park, located 4.3 miles away, boasts a grand Edwardian mansion set within beautiful parkland and an arboretum. The house is open from Easter to September, but the park remains open year-round, offering a charming maze, a small railway, a garden centre, a farm shop, and several cafes to explore. Stoughton, just 1 mile away, serves as a gateway to the South Downs, with miles of walking paths, forests, and breathtaking views over Chichester Harbour. On clear days, you can even spot the Isle of Wight on the horizon. Guest access There is parking for one car outside the cottage, and another car can be parked on the lane. The cottage is all on one level. The nearby villages of Stoughton and Walderton both have lovely walks and pretty country pubs . Other things to note CLEANING/ LINEN The property will be cleaned and prepared with linen and towels for your arrival. Mid-stay cleans are not included, but please get in touch if you would like to pay to book a clean or fresh linen and towels during your stay. Please let us know in advance if you would like to use the sofa bed so that we can arrange additional linen for your stay. We will also provide a limited amount of consumables (toilet rolls, shampoo/conditioner etc.) to kick-start your stay and can recommend a local store where you can easily purchase more when you are settled in. PETS One small, well behaved dog is welcome to join you on your holiday in the cottage, for an additional fee of £30 to cover extra cleaning. Please message in advance with the details of your pet (breed/age). ~ Dogs must be well behaved and house trained. ~ Please do not allow them upstairs or on the furniture. ~ Please clear up after them in the garden and around the property. ~ Muddy paws should be cleaned before they are allowed in the house. ~ Please do not leave them alone in the property. YOUNG CHILDREN We have a travel cot and high chair available at the cottage. Please request this at the time of booking, and please note that we do not provide cot linen so request that you bring along your own.
