Finca Macondo Bird Sanctuary

Off the beaten track! A perfectly safe place to experience the honduran countryside life, observe more than 200 species of tropical birds and enjoy a 5km hiking trail through the jungle. Relax in your hammock, go for a horse ride, learn the principals of chocolate making, work with us on the farm, go for a dip in the river... It is up to you! The space The lodge is situated between the palm trees, 50 meters from our house and 2 km from the village and the main road. From the porch you have a spectacular view of the surrounding hills and the valley. The lodge has a big porch, a living room, small kitchenette, bathroom (sink, shower, toilet), 2 bedrooms (1 double bed/ 2 single beds). All windows have mosquito netting. There is cold running water and light provided by solar energy. The kitchenette has a two-burner stove and equipment for preparing coffee, tea and small meals. Guest access You are free to go where you want on the property. You can do some nice hikes or mule rides to nearby rivers or mountain villages, rest in your hammock or help us on the farm! Other things to note Water, coffee, tea and fresh seasonal fruits from the farm are available for free. We offer breakfast/dinner (typical or continental) for $7 and lunch/warm meal (menu of the day) for $10. We organize hiking trips to mountain villages and horse rides to the river.
