A quiet private house with a small skateable garden, one hour from Kyoto and near Lake Biwa. The handmade concrete landscape can be skated or enjoyed as sculpture. Surrounded by rice fields, with birds, wind, and clear starry nights. Renovated by the host, a Japanese painter, into a simple teahouse-like space. Ideal for writers, artists, and anyone seeking stillness. Two nights or more recommended. Not a place to consume, but to pause and reconnect with your senses. In the garden, we are gradually building a small DIY skate park that resembles a slippery landscape. Lake Biwa, water from the rice paddies, accumulated snow. The concrete in the garden forms circular patterns reminiscent of surface tension. The design was inspired by “water” itself—a symbol of Japanese culture.
