A beautiful 2 bedroom cottage with incredible view of the Caribbean which is only a two minute walkaway. The ''Tree House'' is located above the estate house. It comprises of two bedrooms with queen size beds,a bathroom and very large balcony which incorporates an open air kitchen and is used as the general living space. The views are fantastic with with cocoa plantation and jungle on two sides and a totally panoramic view of the Caribbean on the other two. Presently at Crayfish Bay Organic Estate we offer accommodation to those who would like something different from the usual beach resort holiday. With its off the beaten track and back to basics atmosphere it provides a truly authentic Caribbean experience. Completed in February 2018, The Tree House, perched high above the Crayfish Bay Organics micro chocolate factory and farmhouse, offers refreshing breezes for comfortable living plus sensational views over both the Caribbean, which is only a two minute walk away, and a working cocoa estate. There is accommodation for up to four people in two double bedrooms , both with queen size beds, a shower room and a very large balcony which incorporates an open air kitchen and relaxing dining and living areas. The kitchen is well equipped with gas hob and small fridge. The Tree House is surrounded by many different fruit trees...feel free to help yourselves to whatever is in season The entire cottage is your personal holiday home. Crayfish Bay is run by a mixed batch of people. Kim, an English drifter who washed up on the Island twenty-six years ago, Lylette, his over-imaginative partner, and Gabri, a local gentleman who takes charge of the farming side of life. There are seven buildings on the estate, as you enter the property. On the left you can see a wooden construction with drawers underneath on runners, these are the drying drawers for the cocoa. The next building on your right is fondly called "Chicken Shack" it is our informal 'hang-out' spot and has a small living space with one bedroom, kitchen and a Studio apartment and bathroom below. Opposite ‘Chicken Shack’ is our tiny Chocolate factory where we now spend much of out time making our delicious chocolate, which is rapidly gaining notoriety among local and visiting chocolate lovers. The big white house is a Bucan and this is where we live. Then there is the workshop to the left of the Bucan. The wooden house above the workshop is the "Little House" with two bedroom, shared bathroom, outside kitchen and a very big balcony. 'The Little House' is also set up specifically for guest accommodation and is listed on AirBnB as well. Finally, above the Chocolate factory and overlooking everything is the 'Tree House’.. As the name implies the house is located amounts the trees and gives a spectacular view of the Caribbean sea. In addition, you have complete access to the estate where you can chill out, learn about chocolate making or walk through the farm drinking in the intoxicating bounty of nature and refreshing yourself at the waterfalls. Fresh fruit in season is often available from the farmhouse, as well as fresh eggs. If you need freshly made bread just ask us and we would be happy to make it if our schedule permits. Shops and markets in nearby Waltham and Victoria will cater for most other culinary needs. You won’t want to be reminded of life outside Crayfish Bay, but in the unlikely event you want to stay in touch with the outside world, wifi is available in The Tree House. Crayfish Bay is run by a mixed batch of people. Kim, an English drifter who washed up on the Island twenty-six years ago, Lylette, his over-imaginative partner, and Gabri, a local gentleman who takes charge of the farming side of life. We are all very happy to interact with guests and explain the workings and history of the estate.....usually over a cold beer in the evening. Crayfish Bay is located on the North West Caribbean Coastline of the Island of Grenada, West Indies, well away from the regular tourist areas. Severely Damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, this idyllic retreat has been lovingly restored over the past ten (10) years and is now fully restored as an operating organic cocoa estate with a small chocolate factory. The estate has two cottages that offers self-catering accommodation for back packers, adventure tourists, nature lovers and chocolate enthusiasts. During the 17th Century the estate was known as "Non Pariel" which when translated means - as without equal or without parallel. Non Pariel was the site of a large French Molasses Factory and some of it ruins and artifacts are still visible today In the 18th Century Non Pariel came under British rule and was renamed Crayfish Bay and became a working cocoa estate. The local village where there are several small shops then took the name NonPariel. This village with its small shops and friendly people are just a few minutes walk away. The Tree House provides an excellent base for touring the island. You don’t even need a hire car – frequent buses to all parts of the island pass within a few minutes’ walk from your door from early to dusk. A car gives greater flexibility though, and our local car rental, CIC Auto Rental, offers a great deal - sensible cars at a sensible price, including meeting you at the airport and your Grenada driving licence. Just let us know if you are interested and we will help you organise it. For those who enjoy walking and hiking it is a great place with numerous trails heading off in all directions. Your stay will be even more enjoyable if you come prepared for the inevitable insect life on a cocoa estate. Lightweight long-sleeved tops and trousers (the latter preferable tucked into socks during the dawn and dusk periods) is the best protection and standard uniform for any visitor susceptible to bites. Please note that is a working estate located on the edge of the bush and the Caribbean. The nights are not silent, but filled with the sound of the surf and the tree frogs. Life is slow and generally the most exciting part of the day is counting the number of eggs our chickens have given us !!
