Lough Sheelin, Crover, Co Cavan / Meath
Lough Sheelin, Crover, Co Cavan / Meath
Description
Off the beaten track, our holiday home overlooks a secluded meadow beside Lough Sheelin. It offers old fashioned comforts; light and airy in summer, then cosy in winter. But it needs redecoration and updating. Dublin Airport is 100km (65 miles), so Arley provides a peaceful stopover for those en route to the Wild Atlantic Way, counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal. Anglers are especially welcome and, as Crover House is just 5 minutes away, it is a useful base for wedding guests there. The space The house is an unusually spacious bungalow, built in the 1960s. There is a generous size twin room with a wash basin; also a pleasant single bedroom. Guests have sole use of the bathroom (tub but no shower), as well as shared use of the attractive living room where breakfast is taken. The kitchen with its fridge is also available for those needing to prepare and store daytime picnics etc. for ongoing travel or a day out on the lake. Guest access There is a right of way for visitors to the lake shore and, usually, temporary harbouring for a boat, though this would require advance notice. During your stay Visitors sharing the house are treated as friends recommended by my extended family. I aim to offer a Shared Home / Paid Guest experience, rather than a Guest House / Host - Client relationship. That said, social interaction will be entirely to the comfort of visitors; I am happy to chat, inform and entertain, but equally to disappear if privacy is preferred. Other things to note The house is in the middle of farmland. This means an agricultural environment, gates, mud and cattle. So, sadly, it also means no visiting dogs.
