Description
Your island home away from home is a typical Aitutaki family home with 3 bedrooms, a combined living/dining/kitchen area, and a large veranda. It is located right in the centre of the island, a short stroll from the ocean and the little village Arutanga. Your neighbors are local families, tropical trees and flowers and a few chicken. It's perfect for interested travelers who are looking for a safe roof over their head in an authentic environment with more than just a glimpse of real island life. The space The house has all you need for a holiday in paradise. You will be close to the historical church, the post office & the Fishing Club at Aitutaki port where the Aitutakian meet for billard, a chat and a refreshing beer. The house is like almost all places on Aitutaki tranquil, relaxing and stress free. Aitutaki people are very friendly and welcoming. Naomi and Strickland, your hosts on the island, will welcome you at the airport, take you to your home and make sure that all your questions are answered. The lovely couple is happy to show you where to find the local market, the post office, the bank. Since Aitutaki is such a tiny island nothing is ever far away and the most beautiful lagoon for swimming, snorkeling and whole day tours can be reached within minutes. Walking across the island to the famous lagoon takes approx 20min, so you might consider renting a vehicle. There is a scooter available for hire at the property. Bedrooms: 3 with a queen sized bed each, additional single bed in living area + 3 seater sofa. Guest access You will have the whole house to yourself. The kitchen is simple, equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, stove top and oven. Your hosts will supply local coffee from the island of Atiu, milk powder and sugar. A water station to refill your water bottles with filtered water is approx 100m down the road. The bathroom with shower can be reached via the back veranda. Lack of water pressure might affect the temperature of the hot water. The living area includes a dining table, 2 large sofas and a day bed. On the outside you find vvon the nice and shady front veranda and enjoy the friendly smiles of people passing by. "Town" and the famous Aitutaki Game Fishing Club, the market, a Take away and some more shops can be reached by foot within a few minutes. We recommend renting a car or scooter for a few days to make sure you find ALL the beautiful spots on Aitutaki. Another Must do is a lagoon cruise of course. Naomi and Strickland are more than happy to help with the booking. Other things to note Aitutaki is a tropical island. There are 1 mio insects in the tropics, 999,999 of them are ants. Please do not leave any food outside on tables or bench tops; the ants will find it in no time. The best place to store your food supplies is the fridge or sealed plastic containers. There are of course more insects on the island, but non is poisonous or dangerous. Just be aware of it. Insect spray is supplied in the house, Insect repellent for yourself you'll have to bring from home or buy in a local shop. All windows are screened, so that no mosquito should disturb your holiday dreams. You don't need any alarm clock, the island roosters will take care of that :-). Earplugs are a great rooster defense if you don't like their morning songs.
