James Place Inn - Wisteria
James Place Inn - Wisteria
James Place Inn Bed and Breakfast
Description
The Wisteria Room pairs a king bed with a bright sitting area and the largest bathroom at the inn. Its defining feature is a generous hydrotherapy shower with a six-jet massage wall - a welcome reset after a day on the trail, in the shops, or along the coast. The room is located on the first floor. Like every first-floor guest room at this historic property, it is reached by six steps and is not wheelchair accessible. The space The James Place Inn gives you the parts of a bed and breakfast stay that matter most: a distinctive room with a private bath, breakfast each morning, and people nearby when you need them. The rest is refreshingly simple. Arrive with clear instructions, walk into town, and use the inn as your base for whatever brought you to Maine. We are tucked onto Holbrook Street, close enough to leave the car behind and quiet enough to feel removed from the center of town. Walk to the LL Bean campus, dinner, coffee, shops, and the Amtrak Downeaster station. Drive a few minutes and Freeport opens into Casco Bay, working waterfronts, preserved forests, coastal farms, and miles of trails. Portland and Brunswick are easy day trips, and the James Place Inn lets you come back to a smaller town at the end of the day. Guest access The inn includes a sitting room for reading, conversation, or a board game; an outdoor breakfast deck; and garden seating with Adirondack chairs and a firepit. These spaces are shared among guests and are available subject to weather, season, and quiet-hour expectations. The house is old enough that sound can travel. Enjoy the common spaces, and help us keep them comfortable by being considerate of other guests and our neighbors - especially at night and early in the morning. Breakfast is included for registered overnight guests throughout 2026, with seatings at 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. The menu changes, but a typical breakfast includes fruit, yogurt and granola; something baked; coffee, tea, and juice; and a rotating hot dish such as eggs, pancakes, waffles, or French toast. We use local and regional ingredients whenever possible. Please tell us about dietary needs before arrival. With advance notice, we will do our best to accommodate your request. Please note that our kitchen is not allergen-free. During your stay Sean and Charlie live on site and are available by phone if you need help. Other things to note On-site parking for one vehicle per guest room is included. Complimentary EV charging is available to registered overnight guests. Charger access is shared and subject to availability, so access at a particular time cannot be guaranteed.
