A Tranquil Retreat in the French Countryside

Welcome to our home! Rated 4 stars by the Charente-Maritime tourist board, our gîte at La Maison du Petit Jacques offers spacious accommodations, large gardens, a fully-equipped kitchen, a swimming pool and - most important - an oasis of tranquility for a restful and relaxing holiday. We are in easy driving distance of the Atlantic coast, historic towns, and cycling trails. Private and group yoga and Pilates classes are offered for a fee on-site. We look forward to welcoming you. The space We look forward to welcoming you to our spacious, 150m2 guest cottage, situated on 4 acres of tranquil garden space in a quiet hamlet of the Charente-Maritime. The 2-story house sleeps up to 8 people maximum, ideally 4 adults and 4 children or 6 adults and 2 children. We are located just next door and are on-site to help answer any questions you may have about our home or the area. All bedrooms are located upstairs on the 1st floor. There are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms upstairs. The Master Bedroom has a King bed (160cm x 200cm). Bedroom #2 and #3 have two single beds (90cm x 200cm) each, but the beds can be joined in Bedroom #2 to create one Superking bed (180cm x 200cm). Bedroom #4 has a Queen bed (150cm x 200cm). The Master Bedroom and Bedroom #2 both have ensuite bathrooms with a toilet and shower. Down the corridor are Bedroom #3 (Children's Room) and Bedroom #4, which share a bathroom with a shower/bathtub and toilet. The kitchen is on the ground floor along with a half bathroom and a lounge area with a Smart TV and a pool table. The kitchen has an oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, baby high chair, ironing board and clothes drying rack. WiFi is free. Bed sheets and bath towels are provided, but please bring your own beach/pool towels (ours are available to rent for 5€/person/stay). You will have use of our private, 10m x 4m swimming pool as long as the rules (listed in our Welcome Book) are followed. Guest access The guest house has a separate entrance to our home. Guests have 2 assigned parking spaces. There is a separate BBQ area specifically for the guest house with outdoor dining table. Guests are more than welcome to use the dartboard, ping pong table and the gym equipment in our barn. We ask that you please remain outside of the chicken coop, our BBQ area, and the potager. Other things to note Bed and bathroom linens and towels are provided for you; pool towels are available to rent for the duration of your stay. Please note there is no smoking within the house. As we live next door with our dog and have two outdoor cats and several chickens on the property, we are sorry that there are no pets allowed. Group and private yoga and Pilates classes are taught out of our main house on most weekdays. If you are interested in participating, please direct message or inquire upon arrival. While we don't charge an AirBnb cleaning fee to make the booking, please note we do expect our guests to leave our gîte in the same condition in which it was found, else a cleaning fee of at least 100€ will be charged.
