We are located in a residential neighborhood. We are within walking distance to Lock #1, historic downtown Lockport, hiking/biking paths, Dellwood Park and the Metra rail to Chicago. The proprietors of the Historic Hamilton Hideaway are not only your hosts but also your neighbors residing in the downstairs flat. Driving times from Lockport, IL to downtown Chicago varies with the time of day (rush hour being high travel times), the day of the week (weekends and holidays being lighter travel times), if construction is going on or if other delays such as an accident causes a backup/slowdown. Also consider your time needed to find parking and to get to where you are going. With this in mind it can take anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours. We suggest that you search “travel time from Lockport, IL to Chicago” to get a sense of what your travel time might be. We also suggest that you give yourself penalty of time for travel to and from the city of Chicago. Create a secondary plan of something to do or see if you find that you have arrived sooner then expected. By Train: We are 5 to 10 minutes walking distance to the Lockport Station of the “Heritage Corridor (HC)” Metra. The train ride to Chicago Union States is about 45 minutes. The “Heritage Corridor (HC)” runs between Joliet and Chicago Union Station. The HC has limited service to Lockport, and is the only train line that offers service to the Lockport Station. This train leaves Joliet and stops at the Lockport Station just a couple if times in the morning and a couple of times in the early evening. The “Rock Island District (RI)” runs between Joliet and Chicago LaSalle Street station. Near us the RI line has stations in Joliet and New Lenox. These stations are both a short driving distance and the trains that leave and return to these 2 locations offer more leave and return times. *While the New Lenox maybe a few minutes further away it has more convenient parking. There is a fee to park there which is $1.50. Also, to ride the RI train from New Lenox to Chicago maybe cheaper then riding the RI train from Joliet to Chicago. Depending on your schedule you might want to leave for the city on the HC line from Lockport and return back on the HC line to Joliet, then take an Uber back to the Lockport Hamilton House Hideaway…. Or you could leave from Lockport on the HC and return on the RI line (again arriving in Joliet), and take an Uber back to the Hideaway. Keep in mind if you do this you will arrive and depart from different train stations in the city. Or drive to the New Lenox Station and leave and return to that location…. The following are the key Metra Stations mentioned above and information: Lockport Station (HC line/limited service to Lockport Station) (5 to 10 minute walk to the Hamilton House Hideaway) 13th St. & State St. Lockport, Illinois 60441 (Takes you to Union Station) Joliet Station (serves both the HC and RI lines) 90 E. Jefferson Street Joliet, Illinois 60432 12 min (4.7 mi) from the Lockport Hamilton House Hideaway Pay to park New Lenox (serves just the RI line) 300 N. Church St. New Lenox, Illinois 60451 Takes you to LaSalle Street Station 18 min (9.2 mi) from the Lockport Hamilton House Hideaway Pay to park ($1.50) for the day. Union Station (serves the HC line) 210 South Canal St. Chicago, Illinois 60606 LaSalle Street Station (serves the RI line) 414 S. LaSalle Street Chicago, Illinois 60605 ★ Our base pricing shown in the listing is for "double occupancy" (2 guests total). Pricing starts at 2 to make it more affordable for 2 people or smaller groups traveling together. Beyond 2 guests extra charges occur. When creating your booking indicate how many guests total (including yourself) will be visiting. *The Hideaway can accommodate up to 6 guests. Extra charges apply after 2 guests. ★ We are NOT a traditional Bed & Breakfast. We do not stock the kitchen with food nor do we cook, prepare, or provide any meals. Our B&B Guest House is “Self-Catering” which means visitors provide and prepares their own food. In "guest house style" you will need to bring the food you want to prepare with you. You have exclusive use of the private 2nd story 2-bedroom Flat which includes a kitchen stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, etc. We only ask that you clean your dishes (place them in the dishwasher) after use and to leave things as you find them.
