The Villa was completed in 2018, designed by a famous architect in Sri Lanka. As soon as you enter the Villa, the architecture and furniture will provide you with the feeling of 18th Century Colonial Ceylon. The Villa architecture, colonial antique doors & windows, soaring Dutch-style columns, rare antique furniture, natural stone paving and open verandas provide the amazing feeling of ‘Time Travelling’ back to Colonial-era Ceylon. Witness the sea turtles grazing out front or ask our staff to wake you to witness when laying or hatching when that occurs. ✪ Ground Floor You will enter through a stunning 200+ year old Dutch teak doors. As you enter, you will feel the joy and sensation of the tropical beachfront holiday. Main doors lead to a spacious open-designed veranda overlooking the pool and the ocean. Large spacious and open-designed sitting & lounge room overlooking the finite pool and the ocean with ample of sea breeze and natural light. Next to the sitting area is the dining area with a massive dining table which can accommodate 14 people. The fully equipped modern kitchen is manned by the resident Chef. Open long veranda with relaxing sofa provides the ideal location to indulge yourself with harmony and bliss. ✪ The Pool Huge seawater infinity private pool and pavilion all facing the ocean is the centrepiece of the Villa. Walk down a few steps from the Poolside onto the beach and enjoy the crystal-clear sea with the surf rolling in. Poolside terrace/garden between the pool and the beach is equipped with sun-lounge chairs and umbrellas for you to lay-down and enjoy the wonderful tropical sea breeze while sipping a cold drink. ✪ The Mezzanine Floor ~ Display of ‘Colonial-era luxury living’. Furnished with antique furniture, spacious and airy living area and a TV lounge, the Mezzanine Floor brings the unique colonial mansion feature to the villa. Sri Lanka was a crown colony of Great Britain from 1815 to 1948. During 16th -18th Centuries, the southern part of Ceylon (including Galle & Thalpe) were under the colonial rule of Portuguese and Dutch. The Mezzanine Floor architecture and antique furniture reminds the colonial era of Sri Lanka and provides a unique experience to Guests. ✪Rooms The Villa offers 4 spacious rooms, named under rare Gemstones found in Sri Lanka. All rooms are Air-conditioned and 3 have king beds with insect netting and one with queen bed and a generous sized double bunk. These 4 rooms can accommodate up to 10 Guests. Room Sapphire is the crown jewel of the Villa. Opening on to a private veranda next to the seawater pool, furnished with ancient ebony and rattan chairs, this bedroom contains a four-poster hand-carved king bed with centuries-old window feature bedhead, walk-in dressing room, safe from the 19th century, indoor-outdoor en-suite, with hand, rainwater and outdoor flood showers, toilet and stunning plunge pool set in a private courtyard surrounded by a 3 meters dry rubble wall that is a masterpiece in itself. Rooms Emerald & Ruby are carbon copies of each other. both situated on the top floor separated by an airy bar room and veranda looking out over the Indian Ocean. The rooms themselves are very generous in size and contain a four-poster, netted, hand-carved king bed with 18th-century windows behind the bed heads which open into a huge modern bathroom with separate bath, hand and rain showers with floors and walls done in the traditional polished concrete which is both aesthetically pleasing and cooling. Emerald & Ruby are fringed on the ocean side with floor to ceiling solid teak cafe-style louvre doors that open onto a large private veranda overlooking the ocean and tropical garden with swaying palms. Amethyst room is set on the Mezzanine floor complete with TV room retreat, luxury bathroom and balcony. This room is at the rear of the building and is our “flexible” room with a Queen bed with netting and two generous sized bunk beds. This room is also air-conditioned, with tea and coffee making facilities, robe and veranda ✪ Meals Breakfast is included in the accommodation. Our resident Chef will prepare an authentic Sri Lankan breakfast cuisines option or continental breakfast depending on your preferences. Breakfast is associated with traditional Sri Lankan tropical fruit platter and fruit juices. Lunch, Dinner, Snacks or beverages can be ordered, and additional charges would apply for these meals and beverages. We encourage our Guests to discuss lunch and dinner orders with our inhouse Chef (who is an experience Culinary expert in authentic Sri Lankan cuisines and seafood specialities). ✪ Fulltime Permanent Staff The Villa employs 5 Staff Members. These Staffs are a fulltime permanent cadre of the villa, trained to serve you with extreme courtesy. They will look after you and ensure your comfort at all times. The Undawalawe National Park, which is world-renowned for Sri Lankan wild Elephants, is a few hours away from the villa, enabling Guests to embark on an early morning tour to the park, experience the safari and return back on the same day evening after an exciting adventure. Visit the Elephant Transit Camp (and Elephant orphanage for cubs) at Udawalawe National Park also can be included to the same day tour. Udawalawe National Park safari will make your stay at Royal Indigo Villa a memorable, exciting and complete adventure-holiday with full of fun. Further, you can embark on an exciting and day-excursion to Galle Dutch Fort – which is a 17th Century Colonial Fortification. Gall Fort is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site and just around 10 Kms.
