The space A vintage architectural gem, perched on the edge of the Pacific Ocean awaits guests to Yankee Point south of Carmel. Enjoy magical views of waves and water, where the sound of the waves will lull you to sleep. This 2,272 sf Carmel Highlands oceanfront home was designed by renowned local architect John Gamble to resemble a bird in flight over a river, with the river being the stone stairway inside the center of the home. Natural stone and wood inside the home invite guests to become one with the rugged coastline and surrounding environment. In this dramatic setting, the land's end and the ocean's beginning can be fully appreciated. The home has cathedral ceilings, generous natural light, two beautifully updated spa-inspired bathrooms, and a security gate. Despite the feeling of being away from it all, it's just five minutes' by car to shopping and dining in downtown Carmel, and 15 minutes' to golf in Pebble Beach, historic Pacific Grove or Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Flanked by windswept cypress trees, the home has mid-century touches such as vintage pendant lighting, natural stone interior walls and stone steps inside the home. The oceanfront patio has stone benches and a table, an ideal place to watch whales and sunsets. The BBQ grill is stored in the garage but is easy to pull out for use. Living Spaces The great room has a 48-inch TV and comfortable seating that includes a leather sectional. Full ocean views are breathtaking from the floor to ceiling windows. Original artwork, as well as antique and eclectic furnishings throughout. Stone steps lead to a small office space with a desk in the tower wing, with views of an adjacent cove. Kitchen and Dining The mid-century vintage kitchen has original blue tile counters, a double oven and a Bosch electric cook-top. The dining area is slightly elevated above the living area and has ocean views. Bedrooms and Bathrooms The main stairway leads to the two largest bedroom suites. Bedroom #1, has a split king bed with foam topper or two twins, a small reading nook with a selection of books and a bath with large shower, a vanity area with sink, and custom tile. This is a fully enclosed bedroom suite. Bedroom #2 is a loft that is open to the lower level to take full advantage of ocean views from the living room's floor to ceiling windows. It has a king bed. Guests should take note of this unique floor plan understanding that this bedroom is not fully enclosed or completely private from the lower level. A large, en suite bath includes a two-person shower with custom tile, dual sinks, a shaving mirror, and seating. Downstairs, Bedroom #3 has rock-lined walls, a queen bed and a small en suite full bath with tub/shower combo. The ceiling of this unique bedroom opens to the great room, so guests should note that this room is not fully enclosed from the living spaces. At the base of the second-level stairway is a convenient half-bath with blue tile and copper basin. This is located near the entry. Ample parking is available in the large driveway which is gated. The garage is not available to guests. Due to the cliff-side location and multiple stairways in the house, only fully supervised, well-behaved children should be guests, due to safety concerns. Well-behaved dogs under 35 lbs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum. Dogs should never be left anywhere in or on the property unsupervised. Keep in mind the cliff side location. The front yard is fenced and gated, but the ocean side of the home is not entirely fenced. Please note that starting in the fall of 2025, there is active construction on a neighboring home and it is expected to continue through 2026. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals will contact you as there is an additional fee and addendum that must be completed. There may be breed and size limitations imposed by the home owner. Bringing a pet to the home without paying the pet fee and completing the addendum can result in an additional charge of up to $500 per pet.
