About this Home - Architect and Renovation: This home was carefully restored to capture the look and feel of its original William Krisel design. Originally completed in 1957 by the Alexander Construction Company, this home is known as the "Gable." The renovation team worked closely with the late William Krisel during the remodel and restoration of this exciting mid-century modern home. The team consulted his archives, now at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, attempting to return the home to the look and feel that it had when first completed. The floor plan, a masterpiece of space planning, continues to work beautifully for today's lifestyle. The cabinetry in the kitchen and baths is based upon Mr. Krisel's designs as originally installed in the home, but now finished in luxurious walnut. The cabinet hardware and sliding peg-board doors are the same as specified in 1957. On the exterior, the home is finished in an original color scheme specified by Mr. Krisel. Carefully researched from the files of the now defunct O'Brien Paint Company and correctly applied as originally specified in Mr. Krisel's paint call out sheet, the colors of Persian Grey, Off White and Apricot Glow with trim of Weathered Brown blend together beautifully and simultaneously give the home a warm vintage feel, but still thoroughly fresh for today. Mr. Krisel personally created the landscaping for this project. A student of the great landscape architect Garrett Eckbo, Mr. Krisel's design creates a Mondrian-esque painting out of rock, cactus and lawn drawing your eye to the lines and features of the house. Other things to note Pool Heat (Optional): The cool desert nights can cause the pool temperature to drop quickly, even during Spring and Fall. We highly recommend Pool Heating for the months of October through May. The pool heater is powered by natural gas and is expensive to operate. We heat our large pool to a comfortable 84-86 degrees and offer pool heating for $55/day or $275/week (non-taxable). Extend Your Stay! (Optional): Standard check-in and check-out times are 3:00 PM and 10:00 AM, respectively. An early check-in or extended check-out time can often be arranged - based on availability on the days of arrival and departure. Extending your arrival and departure times can be confirmed and secured when blocking the night before and/or after your planned reservation dates.
