My cozy house in Ripton, gives guests a wonderful view of the Breadloaf Wilderness. Nearby is the Middlebury SnowBowl, the Rikert outdoor center and access to camping and hiking trails including the Long Trail. Middlebury College is a short drive and summer opens up the rivers for swimming. Each morning I wake up to birds singing, an amazing view of the green mountains and fresh Vermont air. The back yard is fenced which my dog, Wanda, is happy to share. This room has two single beds. The full bathroom, living room and kitchen are shared with the other adjacent room for rent. There is a second half bathroom in the hallway in case there are multiple guests. Pets are negotiable (no Cats Please!)There is a fenced back yard which my dog, Wanda, is happy to share. WiFi is available and the living room has AC. Please note my house has two driveways; please park in the second (upper) driveway, GPS will tell you that you have arrived when you reach the first driveway please proceed to the upper driveway. Prepare your GPS and checkin instructions prior to heading up the mountain as Ripton has limited or no cell phone service. Once parked follow the path around the top of the house through a gate and onto the deck where the stairs will lead to your entrance. As you enter you’ll see the shared yard, deck, living room and kitchenette. I love the solitude of my mountain abode but I enjoy meeting and interacting with guests so feel free to say hello or ask any questions about the area you might have. I will generally be available downstairs if needed. If I am away I am usually available by cell phone and self-check-in is available. Ripton is a small and vibrant community. My property is located just 5 miles from the Middlebury Snow Bowl Ski resort and even closer is the Rikert outdoor center and Breadloaf School of English. This was Robert Frosts home and his memorial Trail is on 125 on the way up the mountain. There are other local camping and hiking trails throughout Ripton as well as several access points for the Long Trail. The Ripton country store is only a three quarter mile walk away in Central Ripton and once a month we have the Ripton Community Coffee House at the community house with live folk music. Nightlife can be found just 8 miles down the mountain nearby in Middlebury where there are several good restaurants and bars as well as shopping, sight seeing and a theaters. While you may want to drive to your destinations in Vermont, the Ripton Store is only a three quarter mile walk down the road from my property. From the store a shuttle runs to Middlebury and up to the SnowBowl ski resort. In addition you can bike to many great trails and swimming holes around Ripton. The bathroom, living room and Kitchenette are shared space so please be respectful of that. The second half-bath is for guests convenience if there are multiple guests. Also Guests can inquire about group, pod or family rates if they want to rent both rooms, or effectively the entire upstairs.
