SJ has never been so festive! Our flat offers a cozy "home away from home" feel, yet in the hustle and bustle of a busy downtown area. Very private if you are seeking anonymity. It is fun to be able to walk 1 block to yummy restaurants and venues, fun entertainment, good workout locations, and only a 10 minute walk to the convention centers and corporations. We are in the SOFA District. Great for an executive or a few engineers or sales team that don’t want to deal with a hotel, and people all around. The dining room can double as your board room or work space! Or for your family vacation, concert or theater stays, or a getaway when visiting family! There is a stocked (spices and dishes), fully functioning kitchen and Keurig coffee maker and coffee for use during your stay. There are 4 locking uniquely styled bedrooms, each with new windows, hard wood flooring and comfy beds (4 queens). This is included for 1 to 4 guests to each have their own private bedroom. If you add more guests, you can double up in the bedrooms with the spacious beds. If you require cots with twin mattresses to be added, there is a $50 fee/bed. (2 max) That is per stay for setup and removal, not per night. Unregistered guests are not allowed on the premises. If you need additional booking space, you can ask if our additional listing (detached Studio unit) on the property is available to fit up to 3 more guests for a total of 13 max. If you have any special requests or want anything in addition to be left for you before your arrival, just let me know! Want to check in early or check out late? $25/hour, but only with advanced written approval via messages, because it affects the cleaning companies’ schedule. If visiting family, we are a 10 minute drive to Santana Row/Valley Fair (shopping mall) or Willow Glen (suburb), and 15 minutes to Almaden, Sunnyvale, Cupertino. We are 30 minutes to Palo Alto, Los Altos and Menlo Park area. There is a train station that can take you to those stops, or all the way to San Francisco as well, in about an hour and very inexpensively. Our 3 bedroom (2 bedrooms & my B&B storage room) basement apartment is family only (no renting). Nicolas (my son — works at Google) lives there & when in town I do too. I know the area and larger Bay Area very well, so if you want to see the Redwoods, beach, hike, dine, etc. I can help you. Nick can help with any questions about downtown, as well. The third unit is the STUDIO (white building) on the property behind driveway, listed on Airbnb for rent also. There is also a third floor (attic) which just houses the heating unit, ducts and storage (no guest access.) There are 4 queen beds, so you can order up to 2 additional beds to be added- based on advanced availability per fee as mentioned, so request early, in case another unit already reserved. Thank you! Welcome to our Airbnb Family! Guest access Exceptional value for downtown! You will have access to the entire home unit. We have a driveway for parking (pre-approve if needed with make and model of vehicle) - there is free parking in front of home as well. Make sure to read the parking directions before arrival, as you enter on Reed St. (FYI-no parking on Reed St. Tuesday nights because of street cleaning.) The home includes 4 bedrooms, 1 small kitchen w/ gas stove and oven, 2 bathrooms. You enter at the front door, with a key pad code. Front porch is a nice hang out room for you only. No one has access to your unit and you do not have access to other units, of course. Next to the driveway is a picnic table with umbrella that you can use, as well, if you want to eat outside, and a workout bench. This area as well as the driveway is shared of course. Rear porch is our laundry room. For long stays, it can be used by guests (by approval during stay - $4 per load applies toward utilities and laundry soap). Note: NO un-registered guests are allowed on the premises. (No exceptions.) We have 2 additional units on the property. A stand alone garage unit detached from the home which (upon availability can be booked at the same time for a larger group.) Nick (my son) and I have an apartment in the basement unit with a separate entrance in the back of the home (not included in the rental of course) that shares the driveway (you will see his black Tesla parked there when he is home) in the back, so park next to his car and not behind. He is very helpful with local information to answer questions upon request, and also works in the security industry if that is needed during your stay. If I am local, you will see my Maserati Levante. Additional maid service is recommended for stays longer than one week at the guests expense, to do extra cleanings, laundry for you, make beds, do dishes, etc. (Please schedule this in advance as it is based upon availability - we will provide the business number and contact of our resource for your scheduling and direct payment options or I can arrange for you if you prefer.) If you would like groceries in advance or during your stay, we have Uber eats, grub hub, Amazon and many more delivery options. ( I can help out too.) Welcome to your home away from home and our Airbnb Family! Other things to note If you want early check in or late checkout, it is by the hour payment and must be approved in advance, so cleaning schedule is not disrupted. Parking is in the back of the house rather than the front. It is an old-fashioned layout so from the front yard you enter through an iron gate. There is a regular gate lever you lift on the inside left of the gate. If you are parking your car in our driveway, enter the chapel parking lot from Reed St. between 2nd and 3rd, (entrance directly across from Notre Dame High School) and proceed straight to the connecting alley which is the entry to 4 homes. Our driveway is the first on the right and has a 610 S. 2nd St. sign. You can double up cars if you have 2. Don’t block in the Tesla please (my son leaves for work at 6:00am, so you don’t want him to be knocking on your door to move the car. lol) NOTE: 2nd St. and 3rd St. are one way streets. Note: free parking directly in front of our home, except on Tuesdays for street cleaning. (You will get a ticket so always read signs downtown.) Across the street from our home, a few houses over to the left, is a convention center parking lot under the freeway overpass on 2nd St. It is free during the weekend and weeknights and $5/day m-f which is inexpensive for downtown San Jose. Urban area- walking distance to convention center. Near 280 overpass (which doubles as a back up parking lot for the convention center.) Only use the main entrance for the bathroom. There are adjoining doors to the bathroom but they have a note saying please do not use these doors. I do this to prevent the main door from getting locked and accidentally forgotten to unlock. Quiet time is 10:00pm, to respect neighbors - have a good time, but just no loud music or TV late at night please. :-). There is typical downtown city noise - 280 overpass, cars, jets entering San Jose Airport, sirens, dog barks occasionally, etc. we have ear plugs if you like, or you can book elsewhere if you can’t handle noise please. We have a security camera outside facing the rear driveway, side walkway, and front yard entry. This footage is not reviewed unless there is an incident, otherwise it is on a timer to auto delete. I always leave the front yard and back driveway camera on and that is never negotiable. If you want to hang out, you can cover while on porch, but just leave it uncovered when no one is out there for insurance purposes. The house is clean. (One guest left dirty dishes inside and outside from her group of unauthorized guests and I called her on it.) Since then if a guest tries to have a party without written consent, we call Airbnb immediately and they kick them out with no refund. You can walk to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. First street one block over has many restaurants, bars, gyms and live jazz. Other than that, welcome and enjoy mi casa!
