Five minutes' easy stroll from the many shops and restaurants on Lake Ave, yet nestled in a safe, quiet, and leafy residential neighborhood, you are ideally placed for Cal Tech (10 minutes' walk), the Huntington Gardens (30 min walk), or NASA's JPL (20 min drive). This tastefully furnished garden property is filled with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation, gentle birding day, or a productive business trip to beautiful Pasadena. Our guest house is a welcoming, self-contained building, with private access and off-road parking, detached from and set to the side and rear of the main house. It comprises a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and 3/4 bathroom. Your hosts personally clean all areas between stays, so you can rest assured that everything will be sparkling. The cozy living room is a lovely place to relax. It has a bed-settee (please say if you wish to use as a bed - note: suitable for small adults only), two comfy armchairs, a window-mounted air conditioning unit, central heating, TV (Netflix, Amazon Prime and Paramount+ included), and a baby-Grand piano (should you be feeling musical!) Hundreds of books line the walls, please feel free to browse and dip in to a volume or two during your stay. The bedroom has an upright piano (not tuned), a walk-in closet and plenty of useful drawer space. Here the full-size bed is permanently made up, with a memory foam-topped mattress and freshly ironed bedding. (Note: there is no door between the living and bed rooms). The large kitchen overlooks the back garden, and is fully equipped with a gas oven, four burner gas range, microwave, full-size fridge/freezer, kettle, drip and Keurig coffee makers, table, chairs, and full kitchenware. A small, private patio area to the rear of the property makes an ideal spot for breakfast and to unwind in the evenings whilst enjoying the birds and butterflies in our native plant garden. WiFi is available, and guests are welcome to use the washing machine and dryer outside the main house by arrangement. NB: We have two medium-sized dogs who like to sit in the garden during the day, but they never enter the guest house or back patio. Please be cautious when entering/exiting the driveway, as the kerbstones are quite high (see photo). There is parking on the driveway for one car only, no on-street parking except weekends. No overnight street parking at any time. We will be available at the main house throughout your stay, but won't come calling unless you ask us to. Guests are able to check in and out without meeting face-to-face. Peet's Coffee and Einstein Bro's Bagels are just around the corner - too tempting! Many excellent shops, restaurants, and cocktail lounges are within easy walking distance. The gorgeous Huntington Library, Art Gallery and Gardens are a few blocks away, and nearby Old Town Pasadena offers the Playhouse, museums, and many lovely craftsman houses. The Rose Bowl, Norton Simon Museum, and Griffith Observatory are all within easy reach. Easy access to/from the 210 freeway and historic Route 66. Pasadena has excellent Lyft and Uber services. Take the Metro Gold Line to Downtown LA or onward to Santa Monica beach. A nearby bus can take you to the top of Lake Ave for access to hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains. To ensure the highest standards, Laura and Gavin clean the guest house themselves between bookings. The guest house then remains empty with the windows open, unless the weather is very hot, when we will leave the ac and fans on.
