Only a few kilometers away from Vieregge is the Schaabe, a 12-kilometer-long spit which, with its fine sand, is one of the most beautiful bathing beaches on Rügen. Opposite Vieregge is the island of Hiddensee, which can be reached by ferry from Schaprode.
