Villa Prespa

Prespa is a small hidden treasure in the Balkans. A cross-border national park between Macedonia, Greece and Albania that possesses an extraordinary biodiversity and ancient human settlements, all surrounded in a beautiful landscape between mountains. Villa Prespa is rural b&b located in the village of Dolno Dupeni, the southernmost point of Macedonia. The space Hi there! My name is Jane, and I am the owner of Villa Prespa. To cut a long story short, the enormous over-crowding and air pollution of Skopje in the recent years made me look for a holiday home in the countryside for my family where we can catch a breath of fresh air, but with no apparent success in my quest. And then came the corona virus pandemic in 2020, with the lock downs imposed to everyone. This was the last straw which resulted in me conducting intense month long search for the right spot for a rural retreat, and somehow the ad for this house appeared in front of me. Not long after that, I visited the area, saw the house, liked it and bought it in the beginning of May 2020. Villa Prespa is a solid stone built family house built by a local man who spent years working abroad, retired in Dolno Dupeni with his wife, and led the peaceful life of a farmer. When we started planning the renovation works, it became obvious that apart from being a holiday home, the house with its sheer size can also give me and my family the opportunity to share the beauties of Prespa with visitors keen to explore this lesser known area of the Balkans, thus providing a solution to the ever-present absence of quality accommodation in the Macedonian part of Prespa. We decided to gradually renovate the property, planning soft launch in the early summer of 2021. The restoration and reconstruction are being done by local construction crew together with my family, while the furniture and interior decorations are being locally handcrafted. We use only local materials during the entire process. We hope that You will enjoy Your stay at Villa Prespa, the great outdoors, friendly locals and tasty cuisine! Guest access Our guests have their private balcony as well as the sitting area in the frontyard. Also, they have access to the summer cuisine & terrace and their facilities (shared with us and other guests). Bikes are also at our guests' disposal during their stay (and hopefully SUP boards in 2022). During your stay It will be my brother Aleksandar or me providing assistance to the guests, also giving recommendations for things to do in the area, restaurants, etc. We can also arrange transfers, provide guides (sightseeing or adventure tours) and equipment rentals in Prespa or the surrounding regions (Pelagonija, Ohrid or in neighbouring Greece and Albania). Other things to note As the Villa is located in a rural area that Prespa is, running a b&b has its own advantages, but also challenges, and when we say challenges, we think of instability of the electricity and water supply (these happen from time to time). We will try to solve any ongoing issues and provide solutions on the spot, and we expect understanding and cooperation from our guests.
