The villa is located in the Old Zaostrog village that was completely abandoned in 1962, when following a massive earthquake everybody moved approximately 2 km to the south to establish a new Zaostrog at the coastline. In 2014 restoration of the old village Zaostrog was initiated. The house interiors are refurbished in a luxurious modern style, but the original exterior of traditionally build stone houses is being preserved. Vila Jatica is one of the newly renovated houses. It is a combination of traditional Dalmatian architecture and modern interior design. With one gorgeous double bedroom, two single bedrooms (each with one extra bed) and a sofa-bed in the living room, this villa is perfect for couple, families, or groups of friends looking to get a well-deserved break. The stylish, contemporary kitchen has all you need if you wish to stay in to eat. An additional outside kitchen with barbeque and stone table that can seat 12 people, is an ideal place to relax with friends when summer heat is too strong. You can make your own barbeque with meat or fish delivered from local shops and marinated with spice herbs from your own garden next to the outside kitchen. The villa also has a tavern with a table for 8 people, little kitchenette with a large fridge with ice maker, and a dish washing machine. A beautiful outdoor area with a private pool, a sundeck area, and a lounge area with a open fireplace table are just waiting for you to arrive. Steeped in history, Zaostrog is famous for its historical monastry, which is definitely worth a visit during your time with us. Zaostrog also has its own beach and shops with cafe bars and restaurants for when you wish to visit. A number of beautiful secluded small beaches are only a few minutes drive away. Long hiking or biking trails are available on the slopes of the Biokovo Mountain. The coastal town of Makarska is just a short drive away, and the port towns of Drvenik and Ploče, connecting the coastline with some of the islands are waiting for your visit. If you are willing to move for a day from quiet and luxurious shelter of Vila Jatica, you can reach cities of Dubrovnik, Split or Hvar in slightly over one hour drive. Take a stop in a little town of Stone, famous for walls of Stone – a series of defensive stone walls, originally 7 km long. The Walls of Stone were also known as the European walls of China. The villa location itself is away from the buzz of tourists so you can truly unwind, but everything you could need during your stay is all located just a short drive away. However, if you want we can provide you everything you need here in Vila Jatica – the excellent delicious food from restaurant Galeb, which offer seafood and meat, vegetables from their own garden, and delicious sweets such as their famous soft chocolate cake with walnuts. We can also organize the delivery of goods from a local market and shops.
