Some think of Bass Lake, the pine-trimmed reservoir about a half-hour’s drive south of Yosemite National Park’s south entrance, as a smaller version of Lake Tahoe. But the little lake with the big alpine feel has an appealing difference from its high-country cousin: Bass Lake’s elevation is only 3,400 feet/1,036 meters, so its surface waters become blissfully warm in summer, hovering around 75°F/24°C. While the nearly 5-mile/8-km-long lake is popular destination for water skiing, wakeboarding, and wave runners, it also has sheltered coves for swimming and for sailing, as well as kayaking and pedal boating (boat and gear rentals are available). We are located just 56 miles north of Fresno, and walking distance of Bass Lake in the Sierra National Forest at an elevation of 3,400 feet. The movie The Great Outdoors was shot on location in Bass Lake in October 1987. Ducey's Bass Lake Lodge, a rustic 1940s resort in Bass Lake, was featured as Wally and Juanita's Perk's Pine Lodge. Located in Yosemite National Park, Badger Pass offers nice runs for the novices and intermediate skier. Find Badger Pass by traveling North on HWY 41 into the Park. The cabin is fully supplied with dishes, pots/pans, large and small bowels, extensive utensils, wine glasses, etc etc throughout the kitchen. There is a washer and dryer in the hallway with additional supplies in closets. A very large couch with a chaise lounge. The flatscreen TV in the main room’s volume can be turned up on the side of the remote. The fireplace is amazing and we highly recommend buying some wood at a local market.
