It's near many hiking & snowmobile trails and is only a short drive to Parry Sound & Provincial Parks! The cottage can sleep 10 (sleeps 8 when bunkie is not available). It has a sandy waterfront and is great for swimming. It includes a deck, firepit, watercraft, fully-equipped kitchen, AC, unlimited Wifi, Smart TV, foosball table and spacious bedrooms. The space The view is definitely one of the star attractions of this Parry Sound cottage rental. Whether you're a fan of blue water and sky, windswept pines and spruce or Canadian Shield rock outcroppings, the view simply screams Parry Sound Cottage Country, and gifts you with a sunny southern exposure all day long. A sloped yard takes you to the waterfront, with a set of stairs easing the steepest section. The waterfront is easily accessible, but those with mobility issues may want to confirm with us prior to booking if they intend to enjoy the lake. A generous sized dock is perfect for relaxing and launching your favorite nautical pursuit, be it swimming or boating. There is excellent clear water that is quite deep right off the dock. For toddlers and waders, there is a beach area off to the side. Back up at the cottage again, you are treated to a magnificent deck that spans the width of the cottage and even wraps around - best suited for enjoying the afternoon sun and evening skies, it can do double duty as a dining area as there is a convenient doorway off of the kitchen area. Stepping inside, you are treated to a wonderful eat-in kitchen that overlooks the living area. The 3 bedrooms are on this level, including 2 with wonderful lake views....one of those with a walkout to a private deck. The lead couple will no doubt want to lay dibs on this one. A semi-flight of stairs takes you to a cathedral-ceilinged living room. There is a lot to see here - the view of the lake, the big screen TV and a wood stove for cool evenings. The lower level offers cool surroundings on very hot days - a great place to watch a movie, put together a puzzle or play some board games. The laundry is on this level as well, so the wait between loads can be entertaining. Out and about, the cottage town of McKellar has the basics - a general store for staples and a wonderful spot for ice cream and burgers. It's a quick drive, a 15 minute bike ride, or about an hours walk if you feel like some exercise. It's also a 7 km paddle - there is nothing quite so rewarding as an ice cream cone after a couple hours of kayaking! If you are a numbers person, it's 4.5 km. away. For groceries and entertainment, you'll want to be in Parry Sound, just a 20 minute drive. It offers the amenities of a city - shopping, restaurants, The Stockey Centre, Georgian Bay cruises and more. The area was a favorite of the Group of 7 - if you have an artistic bent, bring your easel, your camera and your imagination. The beautiful Ridge at Manitou Golf Course is only a 4 min drive or boat ride away. This public course is ranked as one of the best courses in Canada and has an outstanding food program if you are looking for a nearby dining experience. Lake Manitouwabing is one of the largest lakes in the Parry Sound area with endless activities available and Lakeside Cove gives you easy access to it all but from the comfort of your own quiet, private bay. If you are interested in boating & exploring the lake to enjoy water activities, you can launch your own boat nearby or you can rent a boat at the local marina. Trestle Brewery for local craft beer, great food and view. Lakeside Cove - the name pretty much sums it up. How you spend the rest of the day is entirely up to you! Trivia Manitouwabing Lake got its name from the Ojibway First Nations group who formerly frequented the area. The lake was first dammed at Hurdville over a century ago for lumbering purposes. The present dam is maintained by the Public Utilities Commission of the town of Parry Sound, which uses the water for hydro electric power generation. In the early settlement days the lake provided transportation for lumber companies and the power of falling water was harnessed at both the upper and lower ends of the lake to run grist, woollen and sawmills. (Source - Manitouwabing Lake Community Association) A supplemental information form (under 5 min to complete) which includes information on the guests and agreeing to our rental agency's terms and conditions is required to be completed to finalize the booking. Guest access Guests have access to the entire backyard, waterfront and the entire cottage. Other things to note The high chair and a crib can be made available upon request
