We look forward to welcoming you to Castelmonte (618 meters above sea level), a village located in the extreme eastern Friuli, where one of the oldest sanctuaries is located, which is highly revered by the Friulians and a destination for pilgrimages from nearby Austria and Slovenia. From here you can admire Cividale del Friuli, the Friulian Collio and the Slovenian Collio. The location is strategic, here various routes can be crossed both on foot and by bike: - Alpe Adria Trail - Bluenergy E-bike Route - Schioppettino Trail - Via Alpina - Cammino Celeste The space The "La Stele" vacation home is located a short walk from the Castelmonte Sanctuary. The most convenient way to reach the accommodation is Provincial Road 13, which leads directly from Cividale to the Castelmonte Sanctuary. Guests of the "La Stele" vacation home can use the large parking lot (free) located at the foot of the Sanctuary, a few meters from the entrance of the vacation home. The accommodation consists of two large double bedrooms, a single bedroom, a living room with a very nice kitchenette and an extendable table that can offer up to 6 seats, and a bathroom. The rooms are simple but very well-kept and comfortable, perfect for families or groups of people (up to a maximum of 5 people). The heated environment offers a private and charming terrace with a panoramic view and a shelter for cars and motorcycles. On the lower floor is the Osteria we manage, where you can have breakfast and lunch. The Osteria, subject to prior agreement, is available to prepare dinner in advance, so that guests can warm up the meal in the kitchen that the Holiday Home is equipped with. Connected to the Osteria is a small shop of typical and local products. Other things to note Undoubtedly, the main attraction of the place is the historic village of Castelmonte with its Sanctuary. Surrounding the village is an immense forest to be discovered, with more or less short paths that wink at sportsmen and adventurers, but also at those who are looking for a little peace and silence. A few kilometers away there are also waterfalls! The Kot Waterfalls are a hidden and almost magical corner, reachable only on foot in respect of nature. A little more than 7 km away there is a Lombard jewel: Cividale del Friuli, to be visited and explored, with the Natisone River that crosses it and creates suggestive landscapes perfectly embedded between the historic buildings that characterize the citadel. If you stop in Castelmonte, you can't miss the Colli Orientali del Friuli, an immense expanse of hills and vineyards, with its many wineries that produce some of the best wines in Italy. The flagship of this area is the Schioppettino di Prepotto, a native vineyard that can only be vinified in this municipality, and which follows a very strict specification. From here to Slovenia, then, the step is really short! As the crow flies, it is only 1 km away, and reaching one of the places that most characterize this borderland is very simple: Caporetto, Mount Kolovrat, and our King, Mount Matajur, are about half an hour away.
