The Baginton Bear Suite
The Baginton Bear Suite
Description
Relax and unwind in the Baginton Bear Suite. There's a pub to walk to either up or down the hill, and coffee shops in each of the two garden centres. Warwick Castle is a short drive away, and Kenilworth Castle is even closer. Close by is Regency Royal Leamington Spa, as are world-renown Coventry Cathedrals both old and new. The charming suite has a comfortable double bedroom, kitchen, en-suite, laundry, living and dining spaces, and is just what's needed for any stay away. The space General: The Baginton Bear Suite has come to be known as the first-class choice for visitors to the area looking for a stylish, well-equipped and extremely comfortable nights sleepover. The double bed is dressed with comfort features including an extra mattress topper as well as antiallergy protection. We know that the primary reason for booking accommodation is to get a good night’s sleep – and we do all we can to help you do that. In addition to the automatic radiators, the suite is fitted with rapid heating equipment in the living area and additional slow-release heating in the bedroom. For those increasingly warm summer nights the suite also has a high-speed fan to cool things down. The fast internet unique to the suite allows for working away from home with ease, and the abundance of eateries within walking distance makes for a pleasant choice between utilising the fully equipped kitchen or dining out. Beautifully cared for, this private space adjacent to the original 1930’s home in the heart of Baginton village is perfect for a base when visiting the area – we have regularly hosted couples from as far afield as the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as those looking for a romantic get-away, or a place from which to work as well as enjoy the Warwickshire countryside and all it has to offer. While being tucked away in the quiet village you will find that access to Stoneleigh Park – the NAEC – is 10 minutes away, and the NEC near Birmingham is around a 20-minute drive. The towns of Kenilworth (with its castle and grounds), Warwick (with its huge castle that is one of the UK’s most visited tourist attraction), Royal Leamington Spa (with wonderful Edwardian architecture and great shopping), as well as Shakespear’s birthplace and theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, and the Cotswolds. The space The suite can sleep 2 people in the double bedroom. It provides full self-catering facilities, a laundry, and bathroom fitted with a combination rain shower as well as the standard handheld option. The suite has a dining table and ample wardrobe space for the travelling visitor – as well as a useful fold down antique writing desk if you prefer to work you’re your laptop away from the dining table. The suite is a modern addition to the adjacent 1930’s house – one of the most established in the village. A such it benefits from excellent insulation and modern facilities. Being all on one level it is an excellent choice for guests who do not do well with stairs. The Suite is situated to the side of the main property (The Limes) with its own entrance and car parking space. It is connected to the main house via an orangery at the rear but with no access to the suite while you are there. You come into a small hallway where you can take off your shoes and get ready to relax. This space doubles as an office for those times when you just have to work there’s a beautiful oak bureau with a supported drop-down desktop, and there is a chair in the bedroom right next door that will set you up for those all-important work video calls. And as it is situated right on top of the router with fast broadband you’ll have no trouble ‘working from home’. The double bedroom is to your right and straight on is the kitchen. There's a coffee machine, toaster, cooker, grill, oven and basic staples (like salt, pepper, herbs and spices) that mean cooking for yourself is always an option. However, great pub food is just a walk away - and food deliveries from local fast-food providers is also available. The living area includes a comfy settee positioned to watch TV. The dining table is a comfortable size and the bathroom shower is probably big enough to squeeze both of you in at once, but for your safety and comfort we recommend just one at a time please! Note - The bathroom electric extractor has been disconnected because previous guests pointed out that it was very loud, and that opening the upper bathroom window did the same job! The suite has a small laundry between the main living areas and the bathroom. It's where we keep your extra towels and blankets, and where you can do that all-important clothes-wash-and-dry before moving on to your next stop. Please note that the bedroom window opens into the orangery and not directly outside. The orangery is a wall of glass with windows and doors to the terraces and garden of the house. The section you are exposed to is screened off from the main house for your privacy, and the windows of the orangery are left open allowing fresh air into your bedroom. You have full control of opening or closing the bedroom windows just as if they were opening directly into the garden. We point this out as a previous guest said she was ‘thrown’ at first because the windows didn’t open onto the rear. She also said it wasn’t a problem and did in fact make the suite feel even safer, but we thought it best to point it out up front. PLEASE NOTE: Electric Cars: there is an EV charging station at the Old Mill Inn just at the bottom of Mill Hill (only two- or three-minutes’ walk from the suite). The Baginton Bear Suite does not have charging facilities and for safety reasons the domestic electricity feed must not be used for EV charging. We regret that safety and insurance issues mean that this is not a negotiable point. Location and getting around By car the local towns and villages are almost on your doorstep. Kenilworth is just 15 minutes away as is Royal Leamington Spa, and in an additional 5 minutes you’ll be in the heart of Warwick. The local villages of Bubbenhall and it’s picturesque pubs is 5 minutes away, and a plethora of other tiny villages typical of rural Warwickshire are 10 to 20 minutes’ drive from your base in Baginton. From the Red Lion pub and restaurant at Hunningham with outdoor seating next to the river, to the choice of the 4 pubs in Long Itchington another 10 minutes away – or drive for a little longer in one direction to the glorious yellow sandstone restaurants, shops, and pubs in the heart of the Cotswolds, including the now famous ‘Farmers Dog’ pub and ‘Diddly Squat Farm Shop’ owned by TV personality Jeremy Clarskon, or the other direction in search of all that Stratfor-upon-Avon has to offer – there is more choice than most people have time to take in when visiting for the first time. If you want to travel further afield the bus stations of Coventry and Leamington have regular routes to Oxford, London, and beyond – and the rail stations also in Coventry and Leamington can get you anywhere in the country with relative ease. For those serious about shopping, the train to central Birmingham from Coventry can get you there in just 15 minutes and if visiting an exhibition at the NEC. Guest access As the Suite is adjacent to the main house you are unlikley to come into contact with anyone, unless of course you need us. The Suite does join the main house with a door to the orangery but will not be accessible except in an emergency. The rear garden of the house can be seen from the suite but is not part of the offer (except to enjoy a view of the fields and valley to the rear). Other things to note The Suite is connected to the main central heating system and this keeps the radiators warm, but they won’t get 'hot'. So, to make sure you’re as toasty as you’d like to be there’s an oil-filled portable radiator that we recommend you keep in the bedroom, and a remote controlled portable space heater that can be used anywhere in the living space. This gives off a good amount of heat once you've got it running. Please note that staying in the suite is conditional on being strictly NON-SMOKING and NON VAPING. Please also note that while pets are allowed, they are only accepted in the suite under your supervision. If your intention is to leave a pet unattended then this must be with prior approval and then only if your pet is crated when you are out. Please also be advised that we only accept up to 2 medium sized dogs, at once unless the animals are kept crated throughout your stay. It should go without saying, however for the sake of complete clarity, any damage caused by a pet that might manifest itself after you have gone is your responsibility to replace / repair. I’m afraid we have already had to replace a rug and furniture that was damaged, apparently without the owner being aware, hence the clarity and apparent strictness of the house rules. We want your stay to be as hassle free as possible and therefore are at pains to clarify anything in advance that might ‘go wrong’.
