In 1962 Ena de Silva and husband Osmund commissioned Geoffrey Bawa to design their home in the heart of Colombo. The success of the design made it a pivotal project in Bawa's career. In 2009 when Ena wished to sell the land on which the house stood, the Geoffrey Bawa Trust worked with a team of architects, archaeologists and engineers to carefully disassemble and rebuild it stone by stone at Bawa’s Lunuganga estate, where it stands today.
