Description
Comfortable 2-plus bedroom home on 57 acres, nestled in a beautiful oak grove, in scenic Soap Creek Valley. Quiet rural setting, 15 to 20 minutes northwest of the college town of Corvallis, with access to many hiking trails from your doorstep. The historic one-room Soap Creek Schoolhouse occupies a corner of the property. A one- to two-hour drive to the Oregon Coast, Portland, Eugene, and Cascade Mountains. The space The home has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with a full-size bed, and a semi-private bonus room (closes off with pocket door and curtains) with fold-out queen futon with foam mattress topper, and can accommodate up to four guests. Large kitchen, two full baths, and laundry facilities provide a full-service accommodation, all on one level (but not wheelchair-accessible). The spacious home has several places to read or work, a large kitchen for preparing your favorite meals, a dining area overlooking an oak grove and Forest Peak, and a cozy livingroom with woodstove for heat and ambiance in cooler weather. The well-equiped kitchen includes a microwave, toaster, and drip coffeemaker. Linens are provided, as are paper goods and soap for stays up to one week. The long covered back porch offers a favorite spot to relax and watch the wildlife. Guests are welcome to wander the many foot trails that wind through the property or venture out onto adjacent forest trails and roads on foot or bicycle. There is ample (uncovered) driveway parking for vehicles. Limited coffee/tea service and basic cooking staples (salt, flour, oil) are provided for your first arrival, but guests need to be self-sufficient for all meals and beverages. WiFi is available (about 40 mbps); cell service is spotty depending on carrier (but WiFi calling is an option). A flat-screen TV picks up just a few stations from a roof antenna. Music lovers may enjoy a turntable with assorted vintage rock-and-roll albums. There also is a CD player and a hookup for your digital devices. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, surrounding yard, and property. The attached garage is reserved for storage of the hosts' personal belongings. Other things to note The paved driveway is long and somewhat steep in spots. In winter, it can be slippery or even temporarily impassible in snow or icy conditions. We do not allow tire chains or studs due to damage to the asphalt surface. Vehicles with 4-wheel or all-wheel drive can almost always navigate the slope, but there may be occasional snow or ice storms when access is difficult. We may need to cancel a reservation under these (rare) extreme circumstances (with full refund).
