This is one of 18 rooms in the charming Holiday Music Motel, a 1950s "retrovated" motel featuring plush-top mattresses, high-quality bedding and towels, free wireless Internet and cable TV, flat-screen smart TVs, in-room fridge and coffee maker and more. Original Simmons furniture in all guest rooms, common area classic diner-style breakfast nook for guest use 24/7, original tiling and iconic neon sign are just some of the highlights lovingly preserved at the motel. The space A few fun facts about the Holiday Music Motel: -The “Holiday Motel–Hotel” opened in 1952 (one month before the world’s first Holiday Inn!) and has been in continuous operation hosting visitors to Door County ever since. The “H” and “M” flashed alternately on its iconic neon sign to render the full name. Years later, either the “H” broke or the owners opted to go with “Motel.” -Taken over by well-meaning musicians in June 2007, it became “The Holiday Music Motel.” Lovingly “retrovated” by the same well-meaning bunch, it immediately struck a chord with musicians and tourists alike, becoming one of Door County’s top ranked hotels. -Artfully appointed contemporary-retro interior features the motel's original 1950s Simmons furniture, hand-blown glass fixtures by local artists (Popelka-Trenchard Glass) as well as photography and paintings by other talented local artists! -The Holiday is the world's only fully operational motel featuring live music, collaborative songwriting retreats and a radio station that exclusively broadcasts the music created within its own walls! - During annual songwriting festivals, over a thousand songs have been collaboratively written and recorded onsite. - The Holiday Music Motel board president is a recording engineer, the motel manager plays electric cello, and the creative director is a hit songwriter who plays cigar box guitar. Guest access Guests will have access to their private room, the front lawn with comfortable seating and bonfire pit (weather permitting, of course!), the charming and playfully decorated lobby, and the classic 50's breakfast nook where guests have 24/7 access to microwave, toaster, plates, silverware, mugs, hot water. Other things to note The motel is built into a hill so we are accessible at street level on both floors (sorry, no elevator). Handicap entrance located on first floor. Sorry, no pets allowed on 2nd floor. All rooms are non-smoking. Quiet hours after 10pm.
