Description
Wassail Barn is a 2 bedroom converted barn, situated approx. 1 mile from Wedmore. The accommodation comprises 2 bedrooms, a shower room, lounge/diner and kitchen. The property is well situated for visiting a number of local towns and villages. Cheddar is 5 minutes away by car, Wells and Glastonbury 20 minutes and Bath and Bristol approximately an hour. The accommodation is also only 10 miles from Weston-super-Mare, Brean and Burnham on Sea beaches. Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome. The space The living/dining space has a large sofa, TV, storage, a log burner and a dining room table and chairs to seat 4. The kitchen has a fridge, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. Bedroom 1, has a double bed and a large chest of drawers. There are several hooks for hanging garments, on the door and wall. Bedroom 2 has single bunk beds and a small wardrobe with hanging space and sections for folded clothes. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. Outside there is a gravelled parking area and an enclosed garden reserved for guests. The garden is a shared space with our other holiday let, John's Cottage and is just across the host's driveway from the Barn. There is also a utility area shared between the barn and John's Cottage. This has a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is car parking for up to 2 cars. Dogs are welcome. No Cats please. The barn sleeps 4, but we have an adjoining cottage 'John's Cottage ' that sleeps 6. Book both for larger parties. Guest access Guests have the entire barn to themselves. Other things to note There are so many things to see and do locally! Wedmore is our closest village, approximately 1 mile away or 20 minutes walk along the footpath. It has a village store, 3 pubs, an Indian restaurant and a licensed Café as well as a number of boutique shops. Cheddar is approximately 3 miles away and has a number of good pubs and restaurants. The famous Gorge is spectacular all year round and is a hub for outdoor pursuits, such as cycling, walking, climbing and you can visit the caves too. The area is very popular with both hikers and cyclists, with the Mendip Hills being only a couple of miles from the cottage. There are beautiful walks with far reaching views at Crooks Peak, Draycott Sleights, Cheddar Gorge and Blackdown. The beautiful city of Wells, (England's smallest City) is approximately 20 minutes from the property by car. The Cathedral is well worth a visit, as is the Bishops Palace. The Palace along with the Crown Pub were used as settings for the film 'Hot Fuzz'. Glastonbury is also approximately 20 minutes by car. The famous Tor, Chalice Well, Abbey ruins and a vast number of eclectic shops can be visited here. Wookey Hole is on the way to Wells and has numerous attractions for younger visitors including a large Cave complex. Clarks shopping Village near Street is also within half an hour. Approximately an hour away, is the World Heritage city of Bath. With its Roman Baths, Abbey, Spa and Pump Rooms and superb Georgian architecture. Bristol is a city rich in cultural heritage, encompassing everything from art to history, music, theatre, and has so many exhibitions, a planetarium, aquarium and endless dining options. Just 45 minutes away, days could be spent exploring here alone! The expansive beaches of Weston Super Mare, Berrow and Brean are all approximately 10 miles from the property. Avalon Marshes Nature reserves can be found within a few miles of the property at Westhay and Shapwick. The Starlings perform their murmerations over winter at these locations. There is an enclosed garden for guests to enjoy the outdoors (this is a shared space for both cottages) and a footpath through the property which takes you up through the fields, where you could walk to Wedmore and further afield.
