As we slowly try to restore it back to its glory, you will see it is Civil War themed and has unique features. The "Sion Bass" Guest House has 6 hotel style rooms with a main lobby. The building is equipped with smart locks, where you use a door code to check yourself in, and come and go as you wish. -There is not permanent staff on property. You will receive your building access codes and room entry codes on the morning of your arrival via email and/or text message. This is the iconic LaSalle Guest House in Downtown Fort Wayne. The home was built in 1855 and housed Civil War Colonel, Sion Bass. This suite is named after Eliza George, a Civil War nurse that stayed in this house and was considered an actual hero for saving so many soldiers lives. It is located in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, with Starbucks a Frisbee throw away, restaurants, and activities. Visit Parkview Field for a TinCaps game, walk to The Fairfield for duckpin bowling and virtual golf, or walk to the beautiful Botanical Conservatory. Guest access -Free parking is provided on site (stone gravel lot) right behind the cream colored brick building, adjacent to Starbucks. -To enter the building, walk under the white pergola and follow the original brick sidewalk (dating back to 1855). Walk on the porch to the purple front door. Building entry and room entry instructions will be sent on the morning of your arrival via email and/or text. - Enjoy the common sitting/main gathering room on the main floor. You will find a large refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, and snacks in the lobby. -Garbage cans are located behind 517 West Washington next door for you to put your trash in as needed. Other things to note In the summer, there is a large festival every single weekend. Our library is magnificent, and boasts the best genealogy department East of the Mississippi River (second in the nation, behind only Salt Lake City). The Barr Street Farmers Market every Saturday morning in the summer is a must see. You can be in the middle of everything in minutes.
