Built in 1870, this darling three bedroom, two bathroom, 1250 sq.ft. home does have a narrow and steep staircase from the period it was built. We provide earplugs for those who are sensitive to the train across the street. The train adds character to the home. Our Hudson Valley cottage has been renovated inside and out. Small village with quaint restaurants and picturesque views. Complete with the allure of trains passing by with the Mighty Hudson as a backdrop. Never fear, the train is no different than living on a main street thoroughfare where the whirring quickly becomes the "norm". Since it is a freight line, the passings vary from frequent to infrequent, we hope you won't let this stop you from visiting this quaint village and enjoying our belove space. It is about a hour drive up to our place in Cornwall from NYC. There are two options for the train. There is a train station in Beacon, NY (9.6 miles) which is the a MTA NY which brings you in from Grand Central. The second option is NJ Transit which brings you up from NY Penn Station where you would make a transfer in Secacus, NJ and continue to Salisbury-Mills, NY (5.7 miles). Uber has finally arrived in the area and taxis are also available. We recommend renting a car and driving up. Things you should know before booking: There are 3 bedrooms, 1 downstairs (full size bed) 2 upstairs (1 king, 1 queen). The downstairs bedroom has its own bath while the upper bedrooms share a bath. The home was built in 1870 and has been thoroughly updated however, the period narrow steep staircase still exists. An active railroad track (freight) also adds to its charm (it was a selling point for us) though it may not be pleasing to all. We have equipped the home with earplugs for those who may be bothered by the screech of the passing trains. Also, a Generac Generator has been installed for your convenience and comfort. We loved living there and it didn’t bother us so we hope you will not let it deter you from booking this idyllic location and enjoying all that small town America has to offer.
