Description
Historical 3 Bedroom/ 2 Bath Home: Step into the past in this 128 year old home while jumping into the future of Modern Design: Modern kitchen with Coffee Bar. Farmhouse Dining room with seating for six plus. Spacious Bathroom with Walk-in Shower! 2nd Bath with large tub and ambient lighting. A five minute walk to Vibrant Downtown Newark, Ohio with Shopping, Dining, Entertainment, Festivals and Open Markets. Enjoy National Act Shows at the famous Midland Theater. Ideal for a Romantic Getaway The space This lovely two story home built in 1897 has creaks and cracks but has been lovingly restored and modernized. We have kept the Victorian feel while bringing wonderful modern design to life. The first floor has spacious 9 foot ceilings and there are ceiling fans in most rooms. The home has completely new modern appliances as well as new heating and central air conditioning. Big windows and lots of light but each window has a wonderful faux wood slat blind for privacy and light reduction. The kitchen has an isolated coffee bar because we enjoy the art of coffee. We provide coffee (and decaf coffee), tea, sweeteners and creamer because no one should have to worry about that when traveling. Both bathrooms were custom designed and built by us and are one of a kind. The large walk-in shower is truly a unique experience. Enjoy the original victorian entry chandelier as well as the modern and unique kitchen. A large and comfy open front porch has two Adirondack chairs and table waiting. An ashtray is there for guests. We hope you will come and enjoy the unique space and experience of our airbnb while realizing that after a 125 years we would all have the character of a few lumps and bumps. The location is literally a nice five minute walk from downtown dining and shopping. The revitalization to downtown Newark, Ohio is just stunning: The downtown buildings have been painted in coordinated styles of the original period and large Murals blanket the downtown. Street corners are full of flowers and benches and many new shops have opened. Historic downtown architecture has been, and continues to be, restored to it's glory days! Newark has taken to the ranks of one of Ohio's greatest cities! Guest access Entire house Other things to note People were shorter in the 1800's and although the tall first floor ceilings are nine foot high and the second floor ceilings are standard eight foot high, the mid stairwell landing headroom is a bit tight so we have a hanging sign: "Mind Your Head" for our taller guests! Also, the stairs are a little steeper than average so use the handrails for safety. #1897House
