Description

Enjoy a magical private island camping experience in Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire. This island is one of the only private undeveloped islands in the lake. Great for groups that want privacy and water views from the whole island. Great for swimming, canoeing, and general relaxation! NOTE: There is no HOUSE on the island--this is a private campground on a private island. BOAT ACCESS only--you must provide your own boat to access the island. The space An entire island of about 4 acres. It is one of the only privately owned undeveloped islands in Lake Winnepausakee. NOTE: THERE IS NO HOUSE AND ACCESS IS BY BOAT ONLY--You must have or rent your own boat. It is a magical space of solitude and beauty, with a dock, a large dining table, a large stone BBQ cooking pit, three tent platforms, tables for food prep, a pantry with a rustic collection of camping dishes including plates, cups, bowls, pots, pans, silverware, spatulas and other misc. utensils. There is a network of paths one can take to explore most of the island. They lead to a beach, camping areas, tent platforms, vistas, and a new (as of 2015) composting toilet. Get in touch with nature. We suggest the following challenges to complete your rite-of-passage into being a human on Earth: 1, Swim around the entire island before breakfast. 2, Sleep outside, with the sounds of the splashing waves, laughing loons and distant boats putting you to sleep. 3, Make a fire in the camp site fire place. 4, Cook all of your meals on that fire. 5, Catch a fish, prep, cook, and eat it. 6, Dine by the light of candles only. 7, Explore and discover parts of the island. Suggestions for a more luxurious stay include bringing lobsters or steak for cooking. Note: the condition of all amenities and structures on the island is not guaranteed due to the exposure to the elements. Please use tent platforms with caution. Guest access Guests have full access to the entire island. Many parts are accessible only from the water, and many parts are accessible from one of three trails. The rest requires bush-wacking. There are tools and games available for guests, which include croquette, a volleyball net and ball, rakes, shovels and ropes. Because of the nature of the island there is no guarantee as to the condition of these items. There is a supply of matches, salt and pepper, candles, bug spray, and a tarp and other miscellaneous items on the island. Because of the nature of the island, we do not recommend relying on this supply. There is some wood on the island that you can gather for building camp fires, but we again we recommend bringing your own supply as conditions can be unpredictable on the island. . Other things to note No running water or electricity on the island. This is an undeveloped island for Camping. The island is accessible by boat only. The cleaning fee is to pay the caretaker to visit and check on the island after your visit. We do expect guests to remove all trash and leave the island as you found it.
