Mountain Retreat 20 minutes from AVL

Your stay supports our nonprofit animal rescue Misfit Mountain which is located at a separate location. The space is a bottom (pet friendly) apartment of an A-Frame cabin. We live on the top part of the cabin with our dogs who will bark at you when you come and go (security). You may hear some light treading above when our pups are using the potty. Guests will have access to their apartment with a separate entrance as well a separate deck for their stay. The space A mountain getaway conveniently located between the quaint towns of Asheville and Waynesville. This retreat is just three miles from Interstate 40, the connector to many local hikes and waterfalls. Go west and hit Waynesville in 12 minutes where you can kayak at Lake Junaluska. Go East and hit AVL in 15. Be in the Blue Ridge parkway/ AT in 30 minutes or to the Smokies in an hour. You get the best of both mountain living and convenience. That’s if you decide to leave. This little rustic retreat (the Bottom Level of an A-frame cabin) is homey with rocking chairs, porch swings, puzzles, books, hammocks, and plenty of good reading material. There is an open living room/kitchen set up and one bedroom and bathroom. The space is ideal for two. The square feet is approximately 550 sq ft with the deck. Although there is a parking pad close to the house it is a sharp turn to get into the parking pad and so we have our renters park just outside the parking pad/short driveway (70 ft from pad) so that their car remains on the mountain. We almost had some Floridians drive off the mountain so your safety is worth the extra 70 ft. We know it’s a little inconvenient but we are on a mountain so safety is important and the view from your car to the door makes up for it. This is the perfect place to unwind after some blue ridge hiking as guest have access to their own deck porch with mountains towering over them. Not to mention there is a table for fantastic work from home views and wifi to go along with it. The views are spectacular, not to mention the small touches provided to make your stay warm and one of a kind. Guest access Fenced dog yard. Hillside. And their apartment. Other things to note We have dogs——so be animal friendly. Our dogs will bark at you as you come and go, but all are nice and act as if they get no attention at all, ever. Although the space is separate from our main entrance our dogs do sometimes escape-all are friendly.
