Alabama Hills Mount Whitney Retreat

Alabama Hills high-desert getaway at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, with a spectacular view of Mount Whitney and surrounding peaks. This is the perfect base for all your Eastern Sierra adventures. A ten minute drive from the charming town of Lone Pine. Our two bedroom house is equipped with everything you'll need for a weekend away or an extended stay. The one acre garden with mature trees offers many private hangout spots and wonderful views in every season. Hosts live onsite. The space The property is situated in at the western edge of a small rural neighborhood, with unobstructed views of the Sierra Nevada. There is a main house for guests and an adjacent cottage where the hosts live. Guest access Guests have access to the main house with its two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. There is a back porch with furniture for lounging and dining. The front porch has chairs and hammocks for lounging. The one acre yard offers opportunities for exploration and is fully available to our guests. There are two parking spaces for guests in the driveway, which is shared with the hosts. The hosts live on site in an adjacent house. Other things to note The weather in the Owens Valley and the Eastern Sierra varies greatly throughout the year. Our house sits at 4600 ft above sea level and is considered to be in the high desert. In general terms, the winters are cold, the summers are hot and spring and fall can be more mild. There are times when the wind blows very hard. Due in part to the dryness of the air and the high altitude, the temperature difference between day and night is usually about 30 degrees Fahrenheit. In short, please look at the weather forecast for Lone Pine before your visit and plan accordingly. The house is equipped with electric wall heaters, a wood burning stove and a central evaporative cooler to help maintain a comfortable indoor temperature.
