Welcome to The Old Mill Cottage – a cosy countryside escape with a touch of luxury, complete with your very own private hot tub. Once a working flour mill, now a warm and welcoming getaway, The Old Mill is full of rustic charm and thoughtful touches. Think exposed beams, original brickwork, and sandstone floors. Sleeping up to 6 guests, the cottage features two beautiful ensuite bedrooms and a sofa bed in the lounge for additional flexibility – ideal for families or groups of friends. The space The Old Mill Cottage – Cosy, Characterful & Family Friendly Once a working flour mill, The Old Mill has been lovingly converted into a countryside retreat where rustic character meets modern comfort. With exposed beams, original brickwork, sandstone floors and underfloor heating throughout, it’s the perfect mix of cosy and practical — ideal for families, friends, or couples looking to unwind. Sleeping up to 6 guests, the cottage offers two ensuite double bedrooms plus a sofa bed in the lounge for extra flexibility. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with oak units, granite worktops, a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, and even a Ninja air fryer — so whether it’s a quick bite or a full Sunday roast, you’re covered. Step outside to your private enclosed garden and hot tub — the perfect spot to soak, sip, and switch off at the end of the day. A short stroll down the lane brings you to our heated indoor swimming pool, which you can book for private slots (up to 2 hours), so you’ll have the water all to yourselves. Guests are also welcome to enjoy our onsite fishing lake and the small children’s play area. As a small family-run business, we do our best to make every stay special — and that includes welcoming your four-legged friends. The Old Mill is proudly dog-friendly, with beautiful walks starting right from your doorstep. Guest access You’ll have the entire cottage to yourselves, including your own private entrance and fully enclosed garden - perfect for relaxing or letting the dog stretch their legs. Around the Barnacre site, we kindly ask guests to be mindful of neighbouring cottages and respect any private signs. Please also be aware of animals (mainly horses from the nearby stables) and occasional farm vehicles along the lane. And don’t forget to close any gates behind you - thank you! Other things to note Our lovely indoor pool is shared between the three Barnacre cottages — but don’t worry, you’ll have it all to yourself when it’s your turn! 🏊‍♀️✨ It’s fully heated and bookable in private slots (up to 2 hours) between 8am and 6pm each day. We use a simple online app to keep it easy and fair, so you can enjoy your swim in total peace and privacy. The pool is right next to Barnacre Green Cottage and the children’s play area, or just a short stroll down our little country lane from The Old Mill and The Shippon. And just outside the pool entrance, you’ll also find our outdoor barrel sauna — the perfect spot to warm up, wind down, and feel like you're on a proper retreat.
