Nomad Retreat Center is a haven for nature lovers seeking adventure or looking for a quiet getaway. Join us on 100 acres of forest and orchards to write, read, create, connect, relax, or find stillness; maybe catch a glimpse of deer or fox. Explore the organic gardens. Swing in a hammock under hardwoods or white birch. Bird watch. Make a fire; build a labyrinth out of crystals scattered about the site. Lay under the starry night sky and fall asleep listening to the peepers and coyotes. Peace and privacy in every direction! You will enjoy a warm and inviting space to soak in all the charm of Maine living. Our tastefully and tranquilly decorated living and lounging spaces will keep you inspired throughout your entire stay! Resting on top of a bed of quartz crystallization where Amethyst, Smokey Quartz, Garnet, Tourmaline, and Beryl, and other gems and minerals can be found, the remote, peaceful town of South Paris is 1 hour from Portland, Maine, nestled in the “heartbeat of the hills,” or the foothills of the white mountains. Surrounded by ponds, lakes, rivers, and other eco-attractions that invite hiking, kayaking & canoeing, fishing, swimming, sailing, climbing & bouldering, foraging, crystal mining, & apple & berry picking, Nomad Retreat Center is a home base for outdoor recreation, adventure, and community. Our guests will have access to the entire main house which includes, on the first floor, our large, bright kitchen and dining area, the extended living/lounging space, a quiet bonus room/den, and the first floor full bath and attached laundry room. The second floor hosts our sleeping quarters where we have a warm and spacious landing, 2 beautiful bedrooms with wide views of the property, a shared full bath, and, of course, our master bedroom and private master bath. Guests have access to 100 acres of land surrounding the house that is sometimes shared with guests of our Hip-Camp located on a separate part of the property about 1/4 mile from the main house. We are so happy to share our space with guests! We will offer as much insight as desired about the home, area, and surrounding attractions or any topics that may become of interest during your stay! Our home rests on a short, private road. Our "neighborhood" is very quiet with the closest house acres away. you can get an Amtrak train or bus to Portland, Maine (about a 1 hour drive from the property) and then call an uber, lyft, taxi, or rent a car to get here. The host will be living in the separate above-garage apartment with her two very gentle, people-loving hounds! As her work brings her outside to tend to her various plants and projects, the dogs will likely be with her! The host also provides space for outdoor camping and glamping on the property. There is acres of privacy between the Hipcamp and the Maine house. For an extra $30 per night you can request the property be camper free.
