The River Cottage

Unwind with your feet up. Watch the water go by. Soak up sun on the deck or cool off with a float down the river. Situated in a 100 yr flood plain valley of pristine Appalachian Mountain headwaters known as Big Reed Island Creek, this whismical river cottage features an open floor plan and open access to recreation on the water. With just one bathroom it's perfect for couples or small families. The space encourages connection to each other while enjoying nature. The space Eclectic features include a record player with small vinyl collection, comfy front porch seating overlooking the water, back deck with seating and dining table next to wooded hillside, grill on the deck, three innertubes, lookout tower (bedroom #2) and full kitchen. There is no door between bedroom #1 and #3. Located 22 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway National Park Five minutes from Hillsville and I-77 Guest access Guests may use the whole house, grill, deck, and innertubes. You may enjoy hiking, biking and walking along River Road. No cell service, except for T-Mobile. Wi-Fi calling should be enabled on your device to receive phone calls and texts. No other carrier but T-Mobile will have data and service at the river. Other things to note Bug repellent against ticks and infrequent mosquitos is recommended. River water depth, speed, and saftey changes with the weather. River conditions may be discussed before your arrival. Guests agree to read, understand and adhere to the Liability Waiver and house rules. Liability Waiver: You understand that swimming, getting in the river, hiking, the use of inner tubes, climbing stairs, renting an old house with stone pathways on stilts with heights, being in an area with poisonous spiders, poisonous plants, poisonous snakes, ticks carrying lyme disease, trees, bears, river floods, and anything else associated with renting this house in the Appalachian Mountains is at your own risk. You accept full responsibility for any bodily injury arising from the list above and hold the property owner harmless. You understand there are extra special dangers present to children who are not carefully supervised, as well as dangers to any person if a person has health risks, or if a person rents this house while intoxicated or using any kind of drugs or medication, or while pregnant. You agree to be fully and solely responsible for any accidents to your body or property that may happen. You understand the risks discussed above and agree to assume all responsibility for yourself and for the consequences of those in your party. You agree to waive any claim whatsoever against owner for accidents or claims arising from all activities and circumstances associated with renting this house. All guests in your party acknowledge and agree that they have read and understand this waiver and they acknowledge that renting this home constitutes a binding and enforceable contract between Airbnb Guests and property owner. --------- In the event of heavy rain and river flooding, guests will be instructed to park on higher ground. In the event of a power outage the river cottage isn't available. In the event of a surprise power outage note the water comes from gravity and you can flush the toilet. it just fills slowly. The cottage is on stilts. Because it's air under the floor (not ground) the floors can get pretty cold in winter. Bring warm socks or clean slippers to keep your feet warm when inside. :) In winter, the pipe coming from the spring freezes when temperatures drop below 20 degrees. If you have a reservation and temps will be very cold you can choose to stay elsewhere and get a full refund.
