Description
The "Story House" is a 1917 home we moved onto our 15 acre property and renovated. It's furnishings are clean and comfortable, and its beautiful cypress interior belies its rough, aged exterior. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped for you to whip up your own meals-the closest restaurant is miles away. This is the perfect place for a solitary writer or a family looking for a different kind of get-away! You'll want to explore the property- it's an Adventure in Learning about a by-gone era! The space People who want to "Unplug" and "Get Away From It All " enjoy the Story House and the surrounding acreage, the plants, the animals, and the peace and quiet of Country Life. We DO NOT have Wi-Fi, and cell phone service is occasionally spotty, but there is too much to see and do out in nature to spend time on a computer or phone! There's even a covered tent area where, in case of rain, guests can entertain themselves with outdoor games or activities. We love animals, and our 2 dogs( and occasionally a granddog or two) will visit to beg treats. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house, the cookhouse, tent and playground, the chicken pen, greenhouse, and outhouse. Other things to note We are 30 minutes from Jekyll Island, 30 minutes from Okefenoke State Park, and 45 minutes from St. Simons. Downtown Savannah and Jacksonville are approx. 1 hr away. Insects abound in South Georgia even during the winter, so bring your favorite bug spray! You will probably want to bring food or shop at the grocery which is two miles away since most restaurants are at least 10 miles away. There is no ice maker, but we usually have ice on hand. Coffee, tea, sugar, and non-sugar sweeteners are supplied as are salt, pepper, and a few spices.
