Welcome to Treetop Retreat - a log cabin inspired by the beauty of Muskoka! Located on a private 7.5 acre lot. Unwind in a private forest retreat with wood-burning sauna, dual spa tubs, and a peaceful trail to the river, with access to Lake Rosseau. Fully stocked and thoughtfully designed with modern amenities such as a chef’s kitchen in a rustic log setting. Kayak, canoe or snowshoe on the peaceful Shadow river. Sleeps up to 8 guests, with various options for comfortable sleeping arrangements. The space Log cottage in Rosseau on a private 7.5 acre lot. Our property has a river at the back, which flows into Lake Rosseau. What makes our property truly unique is the private mini-spa our guests can enjoy during their stay. You will have access to your very own traditional Finnish wood-burning sauna with a small change area, Hot Tub, and our newly added second plunge spa and cold water pail. The tubs can be adjusted at different temperatures (from 26- 40C) to offer our guests a complete Nordic mini-spa experience. Located within a short drive (3 km) to the main town of Rosseau, the public beach and marina at lake Rosseau (Rosseau Bay Marine). Rosseau has a few very cozy shops and restaurants with fabulous views of the lake and a very clean and nice public beach with a sandy and shallow entrance and a large playground for kids. We are also close to various golf resorts. On our property you can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, fishing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling on Shadow river (located at the back of the property). Walk through a private trail to Shadow river and kayak or canoe to Lake Rosseau, which takes approx 30-40min. Please note that shadow river is not appropriate for swimming. The public beach closest to us is located within a 3 km drive, on lake Rosseau and there are a few other public swimming areas around. Enjoy quiet nights outdoors by the fire, listening to the sounds of nature, roasting marshmallows or stargazing! The cottage has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The primary bedroom (on the main floor) has a King size bed which can also be split into 2 single beds. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, one has a Queen size bed, and the other room is an office with a desk and a Queen size futon bed. The lower floor has a walk out basement, and the bedroom has a King size bed which can also be converted into 2 single beds. Additionally, the sofa in the living room has a Queen size pullout bed. There is also a daybed in the Muskoka room which can sleep 1 person comfortably. Please use caution and check official websites for river safety in the winter, if you are planning to access it for snowmobiling or other winter activities. Guest access Guests have the entire cottage to themselves (except some cabinets that are used for our storage). Guests will have access to our year-round private spa which includes a Finnish wood burning sauna, 2 spa tubs, and a cold water pail shower which offers a complete Nordic experience of different water temperatures (26-40C) and approx (10-14C). You also have access to short private trails on the property, kayaks, canoe, adult size life jackets and snow shoes. Other things to note *** NO SMOKING, NO PETS, NO CANDLES OR OPEN FLAME INSIDE THE HOUSE*** **We appreciate open and honest communication. We have a maximum 8 guest policy. **If you smoke outside the property, please dispose of cigarettes and any other trash by throwing them in the garbage** Additional fee of $50 will incur if garbage is not properly disposed of, as per check out instructions. Please be respectful of quiet hours: 11pm-8am. Our property is on a very private 7.5 acre land, but the sound carries to surrounding neighbours. ——————————— Hot Tub Instructions: 1. For safety reasons, the Hot Tub temperature cannot exceed 104F or 40C. 2. Please open the cover and remove it safely. 3. Press the “1” and “2” buttons to turn on the jets. 3. The jets will turn off automatically after about a 20 min cycle. You can turn them back on if you wish. 4. Please put the cover back on once you are done using any of the 2 tubs. Sauna and Indoor Fireplace Instructions: * both are wood burning; we provide some logs, fire-starters and a lighter. 1. Start by clearing the firebox if there is any ash, then load it with firewood (about 3-5 logs) placing larger logs in the bottom and smaller kindling on the top. 2. Light the fire using paper or fire starters, and leave the wood burning stove door open a few inches initially to allow fire to establish and air to circulate. 3. Once fire has established, close the wood burning stove door. 4. Maintain desired temperature by adding more logs, as needed. 5. Safe sauna temperature should be between 70-90C, which normally takes about an hour. 6. Use the provided seat towels for hygienic reasons and to prevent potential sap damage to your clothing. 7. For a wet sauna, add some water or snow on top of the rocks. 8. Once done, let the logs burn out on their own, making sure that the stove door is closed. Do not pour water inside the stove.
