Location: We are located just 3 km from the charming village of Rosseau and the public beach and marina at Lake Rosseau (Rosseau Bay Marine). The village offers cozy restaurants, lovely boutiques, and lakeside dining with beautiful views. The public beach features a sandy, shallow entry and a large playground — ideal for families. Several renowned golf resorts are also within easy driving distance. The Property & Outdoor Living: From the backyard, enjoy access to a scenic private trail leading to Shadow River, where you can kayak or canoe to Lake Rosseau (approximately 30–40 minutes). Please note that Shadow River is not suitable for swimming; the nearest public swimming beach is just a short 3 km drive away. In the winter, weather permitting, Shadow River becomes a recognized snowmobile route. Guests are welcome to bring their own snowmobiles or arrange rentals through local providers. While snowmobiles are not provided, our private trail, provides convenient access to the route. Please use the trail and shadow river at your own risk, check ice conditions, and exercise caution. Seasonal activities include: • Kayaking, canoeing (May-Oct), fishing • Snowshoeing (8 pairs provided) • Snowmobiling (bring own or rent locally) • Forest walks on our private trail *Please use the trail and canoe/kayaks at your own risk. The outdoor patio is designed for relaxed entertaining, surrounded by peaceful forest views. Guests can enjoy our large deck with a BBQ for year-round grilling, along with inviting seating on warmer days. A retractable awning provides a shaded, sun-protected area for comfortable dining and lounging throughout the day. Nature & Our Log Cottage: Our cottage is nestled in a beautiful natural forest, surrounded by wildlife and the sights and sounds of nature. As part of this environment, you may occasionally encounter insects despite our regular professional pest control treatments. While we do everything we can to keep them outside, nature sometimes has other plans, and we cannot guarantee a completely insect-free stay. Our home is a traditional log cottage, which is part of its unique charm. As temperatures and humidity change throughout the year, the logs naturally expand and contract. Because of this, you may occasionally notice small gaps, minor drafts, or slight movement or cracking in areas such as baseboards and trim. These are normal characteristics of a genuine log home and are not signs of poor maintenance. We regularly inspect and maintain the cottage to address anything that needs attention. Fire-pit: Evenings are best spent around the outdoor fire pit (weather permitting), roasting marshmallows, listening to nature, and enjoying spectacular stargazing on clear nights. Please note that from April 1 to October 31, the fire pit may only be used after 6:00 PM, in accordance with the local fire by-law. Fire pit use is also subject to the daily fire danger rating set by Seguin Township. If a total fire ban is in effect, the fire pit must not be used at any time. We recommend checking the current fire rating before lighting a fire, as restrictions can change depending on weather conditions. Please note that our wood shed is used for private property storage and is not part of the guest space. Some complimentary ‘starter’ firewood for the sauna and indoor fireplace is provided. Guests can purchase additional firewood at the nearby general store if needed. Well Water: Our cottage is supplied by a private dug well, and the water is tested each season to help ensure its quality. The home is equipped with a UV water purification system for added protection. The water is suitable for showering, cooking, and everyday use. As an extra precaution, we recommend using bottled water or boiling the well water before drinking. Interior Highlights: The main level features a spacious open-concept living area with a chef’s kitchen equipped with modern stainless steel appliances and an induction stove — perfect for entertaining or preparing meals at home. Both a drip coffee maker and Keurig are provided. For cozy nights in, enjoy the indoor wood-burning fireplace. Sleeping Arrangements (4 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms): Primary Bedroom (Main Floor): King bed (convertible to two singles) Upper Level Bedroom 1: Queen bed Upper Level Bedroom 2: Futon which turns into a King size bed Lower Level Bedroom: King bed (convertible to two singles). Laundry area includes a brand new Whirlpool washer and dryer, purchased in 2026. It has become a place where we can slow down, dream big, reconnect with nature, and share something special with others. While guests have lots of privacy during their stay, we are sometimes on the nearby property and are always available and happy to help with anything, if needed. Looking forward to welcoming you to a peaceful, and restorative escape in Rosseau. 🌲✨ Guest access Guests have the entire cottage to themselves, except for certain cabinets and outdoor sheds that are reserved for our private storage. Check-in is keyless using a unique access code, which will be provided one day before arrival. Guests will have access to our year-round private spa which includes a Finnish wood burning sauna, 2 spa tubs, and a cold water pail shower (May- -Oct) which offers a complete Nordic experience of different water temperatures (26-40C) and approx (10-14C). You also have access to short private trails on the property, kayaks, canoe, life jackets and snow shoes. Other things to note *** NO SMOKING, NO PETS, NO CANDLES OR OPEN FLAME INSIDE THE HOUSE*** 👥MAXIMUM CAPACITY: We have a strict maximum 8 guest policy. To protect the comfort of the property, our septic tank, water-well and all of the amenities, as well as ensure a quality guest experience, the nightly rate includes up to 8 registered guests. Daytime visitors are generally not permitted due to the private nature of the property. Any visitors must be approved in advance, with the number of visitors and approximate arrival and departure times provided. Any additional overnight guests must be approved in advance and will be charged per person, per night. Approval of additional guests is strictly at the host’s discretion. Please note that the exterior of the property is monitored by security cameras, and unauthorized guests may result in additional charges or immediate termination of the reservation. Unregistered guests will incur a penalty fee ($150 per guest, per night). 🚫SMOKING AND GARBAGE: We have a strict non smoking policy inside the house. If you smoke outside the property, please dispose of cigarettes and any other trash by throwing them in the outside garbage bin. Guests are responsible for taking out their garbage during check out to the nearby disposal facility. Additional fee of $50 per trip will incur if garbage is not properly disposed of, as per check out instructions (as this is an additional charge from our cleaning team). Because our cottage is located in the Muskoka forest, we cannot leave any garbage or food waste outdoors or onsite at any time. Wildlife—especially bears & raccoons—are naturally attracted to smells, so proper disposal is essential for everyone’s safety. The local waste disposal site is just 3 km away, and all guests are required to bring their garbage and recycling there. The address will be provided in your welcome guide. If a total fire ban is in effect, the fire pit must not be used at any time. 🌲NATURE & SEASONAL ENVIRONMENT NOTICE: Our log cottage is nestled in a beautiful forested setting, which is part of what makes the experience so peaceful, cozy, and unique. As is common with log homes in natural environments, seasonal insects and wildlife can occasionally make an appearance despite best efforts. We take pride in maintaining a professionally cleaned home, thoroughly cleaning and vacuuming between stays, and providing ongoing monthly professional pest-control service. That said, being surrounded by nature means that, depending on the season, guests may occasionally encounter insects, flies, ants, or other wildlife. In cooler months, for example, flies may be drawn indoors by warmth — something that is common in rural and forested areas. To help maintain a comfortable environment, we kindly ask guests to keep food sealed, clean up crumbs or spills promptly, and keep doors and screens closed when possible. Guests with sensitivities to insect bites, pest-control products, or environmental allergens associated with forested areas may wish to consider whether our space is the right fit for their needs. Forest Sounds/sights: You will likely see and hear outdoor animals like chipmunks, squirrels, foxes, coyotes, birds, deer, raccoons and on occasion snakes and black bears. Roof Activity: You may occasionally hear small critters scampering outside on the roof or soffits. Food Control: Guests must keep doors closed and store all food and garbage securely inside. We perform regular exterior maintenance to keep pests out of the living spaces, and have the property treated outside for mosquito and insect control. However, outdoor wildlife is a natural part of this rustic experience. If anything arises during your stay, please let us know right away so we can address it as promptly and as best as possible. We love our peaceful, nature-filled location and hope you will too! ⏱️NOISE AND QUIET HOURS: Please respect our quiet hours from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM. We kindly ask that you respect the peaceful setting at all times. 💧SPA TUB GUIDE: The spa tubs are thoroughly maintained and tested prior to each guest’s arrival to ensure proper water quality and safe operation. We use bromine- and chlorine-based sanitizing products as part of our spa maintenance routine, and the filters are cleaned and maintained before each stay. The water is also changed frequently as part of our ongoing maintenance program. Excessive splashing, prolonged use, overloading the tub, or failure to follow the posted hot tub guidelines may affect water quality and equipment performance. The large hot tub has a maximum occupancy of 6 guests at one time. For guest comfort and enjoyment, we provide two hot tubs on the property. We take hot tub maintenance seriously and perform regular testing, cleaning, and monitoring to ensure a clean and enjoyable experience for all guests. Improper use of the hot tubs, including failure to follow posted rules, may result in additional cleaning, maintenance, repair, or replacement fees where applicable. Hot Tub Instructions: 1. For safety reasons, the Hot Tub temperature cannot exceed 104F or 40C. 2. Please open the cover and remove it safely. 3. Press the “1” and “2” buttons to turn on the jets. 3. The jets will turn off automatically after about a 20 min cycle. You can turn them back on if you wish. 4. Please put the cover back on once you are done using any of the 2 tubs. 🔥SAUNA AND FIREPLACE SAFETY: Both the sauna and indoor fireplace are wood-burning. We provide a starter supply of firewood, fire starters, and a lighter. Additional firewood can be purchased at local stores or gas stations. Sauna and Indoor Fireplace Instructions: 1. Start by clearing the firebox if there is any ash, then load it with firewood (about 3-5 logs) placing smaller kindling on the bottom and larger logs on top. Leave the firebox in the sauna slightly open to allow airflow. 2. Light the fire using paper or fire starters, and leave the wood burning stove door open a few inches initially to allow fire to establish and air to circulate. 3. Once fire has established, close the wood burning stove door. 4. Maintain desired temperature by adding more logs, as needed. 5. Safe sauna temperature should be between 70-90C, which normally takes about an hour. 6. Use the provided seat towels for hygienic reasons and to prevent potential sap damage to your clothing. 7. For a wet sauna, add some water or snow on top of the rocks. 8. Once done, let the logs burn out on their own, making sure that the stove door is closed. Do not pour water inside the stove.
