Our Yurt is a perfect winter sojourn. Between the Rockies and the desert, only 2 miles from Paonia, is a luxury yurt placed on a large wrap-around redwood deck. Hovering above the North Fork of the Gunnison River, your private sanctuary is far removed from neighbors and intrusions. Amenities include a full kitchen (minus oven), queen bed, shower, hot tub, fireplace, piano, sitting area, and dining table. "In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy." W. Blake The space When entering the 700 square foot yurt, your eyes sweep to the top of the 14-foot skylight, set in a mad array of knotty aspen, drawing you to the center of this round space. The fireplace anchors the middle of the circle and the remaining amenities unwind to the outside, with the space neatly divided into living, dining, cooking, and sleeping areas, plus a private bathroom segmented from the rest. The full kitchen includes stove, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, coffeemaker, and all the kitchen essentials (everything but an oven). The queen size bed has comfy bedding and a tray for taking your coffee in bed while you look out the windows at the brightening Colorado day. There is also a dining table, and sitting area with comfortable couch and chair, plus a piano. The surrounding river, mountains and cultivated farmland can be viewed ten different ways through 8 windows and 2 sets of french doors. Think of a random compass point and there you will find a window framing your gaze. There is an openness seldom seen in standard structures. After rubbernecking for a while, your first coherent thought is, ‘I can relax here’. And the reality is, you can. The property meanders above and below the yurt for a quarter of a mile along the river’s edge. There are established wildlife corridors for elk and deer. Eagles, red-tailed hawks, and blue herons nest on the property or directly across the river. Robins routinely inhabit the trees directly above the sheltering yurt. Guest access Our luxury vacation yurt is set in a secluded area of our 40-acre working farm. You'll have private use of the yurt itself, plus the large deck, overlooking the river. You can also wander along our improved river and forest trails. We do sometimes have other guests in our more rustic camping options lower down on the property.
