Description
Beautiful modern lake home on a small private lake. Perfect for groups of friends or family. The 4200 s.f. home sleeps 20+ people, and with 1200 s.f. of patio space, including a screened room with fireplace, you'll have plenty of places to spread out and enjoy the outdoors. The space Built in 2013, the house was designed to take advantage of the gorgeous lake view and to accommodate large groups. In summer, you can swim, paddle board, toss bean bags on the patio, go fishing, have bonfires by the shore, or just relax on the patio or dock. In winter, cozy up by the fireplace and read a book, play board games, play ping-pong in the lower level, or get outside and explore the area. There are two fireplaces, one in the great room, which puts out a lot of heat, and along with the in-floor heat, keeps the place toasty in cold months. The other fireplace is in the screened-in porch and is perfect for cool fall or spring days. We keep a large stock of firewood for your use. The screened-in porch is adjacent to the great room. The entire wall between the two consists of a series of glass panels which can be opened accordion-style to let the outside in. It's lovely in the summer, letting breezes in but keeping the mosquitoes out. The television is on a sliding track situated between the two rooms and can be rotated if you want to watch a movie or a ball game from the screened porch instead of from the inside. While there's no air conditioning, the house was designed for maximum airflow, so the combination of the windows, ceiling fans, and concrete keep it comfortable. But if it does get abnormally hot, there's always the lake! The kitchen is fully stocked with spices, cooking oils, cookware, utensils, etc. -- everything you need to host large meals. If you like to grill, there is a large gas grill along with a Big Green Egg charcoal grill. We recently also added a large outdoor griddle. When the weather's nice (or even if it's raining), you can open the large pass-through window between the kitchen and the patio, allowing some of your party to cozy up to the pass-through "bar" and chat with people inside who are preparing food or drinks. For more fun, we added a basketball court behind the wood shed with an in-ground net that can be adjusted up or down, so the little dudes and dudettes can play too. The court can also be easily converted to a modified pickleball court (smaller than regulation but super fun nonetheless). We've had some exuberant pickleball matches on that court! The shore does not have a sandy beach but does have large stone stairs that go right into the lake, perfect for launching into the water or sitting at the edge. The lake is beautifully clear and lovely to swim in. We have a dock with plenty of room for beach chairs, and there are numerous life jackets and water floats for you to use. Because the lake does not have public access, there is very little boat traffic. If there are five boats on the lake (usually just over the 4th of July), we complain about all the people! You'll sometimes see families out pulling kids on tubes or water-skiing, but mostly the vibe is low key. Most of the people on the lake have been there for decades. Minimum lot sizes are five acres, so houses are not on top of each other like on many lakes, and there's plenty of room to play outdoor games or go for walks. If you're into fishing, you can take the fishing boat out. We have a small fishing boat with electric trolling motor available for your use at no charge. The lake is great for bass and panfish (mostly sunnies and crappies). We also have a large electric pontoon boat (quiet!), which is great for fishing, swimming, or just enjoying a cruise around the lake. It is is rated for 12 passengers and is available to rent for $500 per stay. If you're interested in wildlife, there are various resident bird and animal friends that you might encounter. A couple families of loons live on the lake, and you'll likely see hummingbirds frequent the feeder outside the kitchen window. You may also see bald eagles, deer, turtles, various bright-colored frogs, and even the occasional fox. If you need to sneak in a little work while you're here, there is a loft office with desk and printer. Wifi service is reliable, and most cell phones work if you use Wifi calling. There is also a land line that you can use if your cell phone doesn't work well. Our family and friends have spent many happy hours in this special place, and we think you will love it too! Guest access You'll have the entire property. Self check-in using a keypad lock. Other things to note PARKING: There is no garage, but there is a designated parking area which accommodates 4-5 cars. If you come in winter, it's easiest if you drive a 4 wheel-drive or all wheel-drive vehicle. If you don't have that, let's talk, and we may have a solution, depending on time of year. SLEEPING: While the house can sleep 18-20 people, the configuration of beds may not readily accommodate that many. The room listings give details on what size beds each room has. Beyond the beds, there are two additional twin mattresses which can be moved to wherever needed. OVER 16 PEOPLE: There is a $20 charge per night ($100/week) for each person beyond 16 people in order to offset additional wear and tear, cleaning, and laundry incurred by a large group. This does not include babies and toddlers, ages 4 and under. ALLERGIES: Also, we have two cats that travel with us to the Tonseth Lake House. We have friends with cat allergies who visit often and don't seem to be affected, probably because the cats are outside much of the time and because the house doesn't have carpeting. However, if cat allergies are a serious issue for someone in your group, we can discuss options for designating a sleeping space. PETS: We do allow well-behaved pets (up to 3), but please clear it with us in advance, so we can go over pet rules (mandated by the county) and expectations. Pet fee is $25/day per pet.
